Last Saturday saw the conclusion of the 2023 Canary Islands championship with the running of the Rallye Isla de Lanzarote. Going into the event 3 drivers stood a chance of winning Miguel Suarez in a Citroen C3, Enrique Cruz in a Fiesta and Jan Cerny in a Hyundai. The rally was won by local Yeray Lemes but Suarez lifted the title by finishing 4th.

Spectacular video by Passats de Canto from Lorca!
So, the season also ended in Spain: after the retirement of Ruiloba on the Rallye Ciudad de Pozoblanco, Alejandro Cachón/Borja Rozada won the rally in front of Cohete Suárez/Alberto Iglesias and Gil Membrado/Alejandro López.
As for the championships, Cachón won the S-CER in front of Ruiloba and Suárez.
In the manufacturers' championship (as there is one!), Škoda won in front of Toyota and Hyundai.

Hopefully it looks like interest in the Canary Islands tarmac championship is on the increase with Hyundai Canarias announcing a two car team of Rally 2 I20 Ns including a full time seat for a certain Russian..

First round of the Canary Islands tarmac championship takes place in Lanzarote on Saturday and having moved from its usual November date sees the rally attract a decent entry. Two Hyundai Canarias I30s including a Step 2 car for Lucky. Will be interesting to see how Cruz and Copi Sport perform now they have swictched from Ford to Toyota.

Very close at the top with Enrique Cruz adapting to the Yaris very quickly and lying 2nd behind reigning Canary Islands champion Yeray Lemes in C3 Rally 2
Just got back from a great few days in Lanzarote. Nice to see the rally attract most of this year's likely championship contenders as it was the first round as in recent years being the final event of the year the entry has suffered in comparison.
Yeray Lemes won as really expected however Cruz in his first run in the Yaris kept him honest. Luky was fast but Raul Hernandez in the Fabia was my standout driver as he was really spectacular however that probably was his undoing as he retired with double punctures.

Next weekend is the first round of the Supercampeonato, on gravel, the Tierra Altas de Lorca ;)
First outing in the Citroën for Unai de la Dehesa(winner of the Peugeot Copa Iberica last year)
By the way, I'm surprise our czech friends didn't bring the news before, but Jan Cerny will drive the C3 Rally2 on three rounds of the canarian rallies championship(under the colour of Citroën Canarias) ;)
Probably because they consider him more Canarian than Czech! He's had a place in Costa Adeje in Tenerife for some time:

Video of the test day for this weekends Rally La Llana, first round of the Spanish Tarmac championship including quite a heavy crash for Philip Allen in his Fabia

La Llana won by Cagiao in his Alpine A110 Rallye GT +. Canary islands driver Enrique Cruz claimed runner up championship points in a Yaris Rally2
Great debut victory in the Peugeot Spain Challenge at Sierra Morena for Javier Canada from Lanzarote. Will be one to watch in that series this year as shown good pace previously with a Corsa Rally4

Jan Cerny will drive his C3 this weekend on the Rallye Orvecame Norte(Canarias Islands) ;)
Am interested to see how he measures up to the CCRA regulars especially Yeray Lemes the reigning champion. No Suarez in his C3 again as still suffering from his injuries sustained in Lanzarote.

A very eventful rally in the north of Tenerife was eventually won by Sergio Fuentes in the Skoda Canarias entered Fabia RS Rally 2. Enrique Cruz in the Copi Sport Yaris Rally 2 made up over 50 places after a puncture to finish 6th overall.
The building damaged by Yeray Lemes off will need to be demolished!
