The penultimate round of he hungarian Championship was won this weekend by Ostberg and Eriksen after a pretty dominant display. Early on they had a 30s penalty, which was later removed. 2nd was Hadik after his crash in Veszprém, followed by Velenczei on the last podium step. 4h was Klausz, 5th was Csomós after loosing a lot of time on the first day with a puncture. Turán's torrid season continues, as he was forced to retire with a technical problem (broken driveshaft).
Championship-wise, Hadik's lead is now pretty good over Csomós, with maybe Klausz and Ostberg having an outside chance.

2021 Hungarian Rally Champions ! After finishing 2nd overall on Rally Hungary Andras Hadik claimed his fourth Hungarian Rally Championship in a Fiesta Rally2.
Yes, well done to them, they drove an almost flawless season (Veszprém crash aside) and deservedly became champions. But the breakout this season for me was Csomós and his codriver Attila Nagy, they really got up a notch and if they can eliminate some mistakes which cost them many points (Mecsek crash for example), then they will be big favourites to win the title next year. Of course, terrible season for Turán (he has one every 2nd year), so next year he should be back also, but he just put up his Polo for rent for next year.
Robert Butor's dream turned into a nightmare when he crashed his C3 WRC on Mikulás Rally's test today. :(

TBR have started disassembling the C3, also sent out a request to Citroën Racing for replacement parts. After that comes back can they decide how to continue, but they are pumped up and want to return.
Some news on the C3 WRC: the chassis work is finished, it is going to be painted soon. They also got the offer from Citroën for the parts they need. Bútor said the goal is to have the car finished by the beginning of april, and then have a rollout test in may, with 3 rallies this season.

Mads Östberg back in the hungarian championship this season with Citroën, and Patrik Barth as new codriver ;)
I'm not sure I understood correctly(despite the Google Translation), but it seems one team in the Hungarian Peugeot Cup would offer a few ERC rounds to the winner(of 2023?)

Interesting presence of young german driver Timo Schulz in the Opel Corsa Rally4 on the first event of hungarian championship next week :)
PS: probably a training for his Junior ERC program
His opponents will be the 11 drivers of the Peugeot Rally Cup and two Ford Fiesta drivers ;)
Really nice performances of Timo Schulz for his first outing with Opel(after 4 stages)! He's well ahead of the Peugeot 208 Cup drivers :)
"Janika"(Janos Toth)back in competition next week at the Salgo Rally! :D
He entered the local Peugeot Cup(and he's part of the cup organizers team)but he didn't drive since a very long time, so... :mark:
Very very sad news from Veszprém Rally. Csaba Nemes, well-known Lada VFTS co-driver and driver died this morning on SS1 in an accident. What's even worse is that his son was co-driving him this weekend. He was a legendary figure in the VFTS community, claiming multiple titles in the early 2000s co-driving for Péter Osváth. Rest in peace!

Oh no... ;(
I hope his son isn't injured :(

Sad news again ;(
So after missing out on the ERC, the Zemplén Rally was the Championship closing weekend for the Hungarian Championship, with a 1.5 coefficient. 4 crews had a mathematical chance to clinch the title:
1. Csomós - Nagy: arrived as leaders and most likely to win (needed a 7th place finish to clinch the title)
2. Velenczei - Vánsza: got some good results and kept themselves in contention
3. Turán - Zsiros: never had the best outright speed, but kept collecting the results.
4. Német - Németh: outside chance, had good speed but quite a few mistakes as well.
Before the event, Turán announced that he was not taking part (the rally was pushed back by a week, and he had contractual obligations in a movie as a stunt driver), and Velenczei had to switch co-drivers due to his regular teammate not being medically cleared.
And alas, more drama already unfolded on the first day: on SS3, Mixi and Ati had an accident with another chassis destroyed. This opened up the door for the remaining two.
In lieu of this, a familiar name turned back time and grabbed the lead: András Hadik! He was finally happy with the Fiesta and it showed. Close behind was Velenczei and also Német.
On Sunday, things turned very quickly: Német got the lead on the first stage, but rolled on the next, ending his hopes of winning the title (and the rally of course). Then disaster struck for Hadik, who clipped some chicanes and had a power steering failure, and ended up 3rd. Velenczei didn't blink and won the event, also winning the Title.
Podium on the rally:
1. Velenczei-Bán
2. Klausz-Papp
3. Hadik-Kertész
It was a very intersting and eventful two days, had more exciting things happen than possibly the whole championship. Mixi sees another big achievement pass him by, hopefully they can recover and learn from this.
It also had some intersting cameos: Bútor was there with the C3 WRC, but retired due to technical problems. Also, the Bulgarian crew Titov-Spirov finished 12th in a very new environment for them.
Thank you for your report :)
