McCormack with Fiesta S2000 a surprise, replacing Flodin?
Surprised and disappointed with no Hanninen.
Guess the fight for victory will be between Sordo, Basso and Mikkelsen. Maybe with Kopecky and Bouffier joining in the fight too.
As I told before, start of Hanninen on Corse wasnt in team plan.
Sordo's car is very young, he won't beat the fastest Skoda or Basso. More than this, it's probably he won't finish the rally.
Like to see the fight between Basso Sordo Mikkelsen.Await to see and Meganes against Aigner.
I believe that even with a slower car Sordo can be faster than Basso or any other driver. This is because he is a world class driver and he will compete in a <2nd> class championchip.Sorry IRC!!!Quote:

Sordo is very good on tarmac, but not superman...
I don´t think IRC is second class championship. Or let´s say in 2011 it wasn´t. (for example Barum rally 2011 was one big dream) Anyway Dani is such excellent driver that I also bet on him.
So you think he will win this rally by four or five minutes?Quote:

I believe Sordo will be more than capable of winning this rally but nobody from WRC has come into an IRC event and dominated. It will be interesting as ever.
nice entry list for the first time this year :)
Does anybody know which Fiesta Basso will use? turbocharged or regular S2000?
Another jokes? In 1.6T he can win, in gr.N on Corsica no way. Even Loeb can't.Quote:

Indeed dimvii, this your question about Guiogu&Delecour against three musketeers with Impreza's R4 is a good one!! With all the respect to both Megane drivers I would not bet on them. Observing results in Italy drivers with new Meganes have still a lot of technical difficulties whit those cars. Will be interesting to observe.....Quote:

Cool livery for Basso. Prefer this to the black one he ran on Mille Miglia.
Hirvonen in monte-carlo 2010 pretty much dominated the rally.Quote:

Also the Megane's will be a nice addition and it'll be interesting to see how Delacour goes ...
The fourth round of the 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) starts in Ajaccio on Thursday, May 10, with a menu of three stages in the vicinity of the Corsican city. ‘Le Pénitencier’, ‘Gare de Carbuccia’ and ‘Plage du Liamone’ are all classic tests of around 20km in length each. The end-of-day parc ferme will be in Calvi.

The next day’s action will be located between Calvi and Corte: ‘Notre-Dame-de-la-Serra’ hugs the island’s spectacular coast, while ‘La Porta’ and ‘Taverna’ head for the mountains, before competitors drive on to Bastia which hasn’t been visited by the event since 1994!
The final leg on Saturday is the longest (140km of stages) and loops through the Cap Corse region with two magnificent stages to be contested three times each. The IRC runners will be joined for the day by crews contesting the ‘national’ level Ronde de la Giraglia. The 2012 Tour de Corse finishes at 8:00pm in Bastia on May 12.

“This event is one of the toughest there is for tyres,” says Jacques Morelli, manager of Michelin Competition’s rally programmes. “The stages tend to be narrow and twisty, while the asphalt is often of a poor quality and abrasive. That said, there are some very fast portions – like SS1 and SS2. Michelin has a very successful record in Corsica.”
The strong entry features the Michelin-equipped Skoda Fabias of Jan Kopecky and Andreas Mikkelsen who tops the provisional IRC standings. He can expect stiff competition from asphalt experts like Giandomenico Basso (Ford Fiesta S2000), Bryan Bouffier (Peugeot 207 S2000) and Dani Sordo (Mini S2000), not to mention youngsters Pierre Campana (Peugeot 207 S2000), from Corsica, Matthieu Arzeno and Craig Breen (Peugeot 207 S2000). Also of note are the participations of the event’s 1993 winner François Delecour in a Mégane RS and former Le Mans winner Romain Dumas (‘national’ rally) in a Porsche GT+.
Let's hope the rally won't be cancelled because of the boat company striking
I think it's time to prepare for the worse.
The announcement of Christian Leca, President of the Motor Sports Association Corsica, is final.
"It's very simple if the strike continues until Wednesday evening, we cancel the Tour de Corse".
"We can not hold the event if we have no gasoline. These cars run with a special fuel that is not (available) in Corsica. We are therefore forced to bring (from) the continent. But to transport these hazardous materials, SNCM is the only company authorized since the AZF disaster in Toulouse. "
