I have a question for the group: Is this rally too busy? I'm going there to spectate this year and I was wondering how complex it is to drive around to get to the best spots. I wonder whether there is too many spectators around... Thanks

And you won't be able to spectate wherever you want, there will be only a few spectators zones per each stage.
If you havent bought a plane ticket yet, then it will be very-very expensive. I got mine over month ago and even then it was much more expensive than flying to Kenya or Japan :/ Friends suggested to fly to another island and find the way to travel from one island to another, should get better price ;)
Very true. The island has just suffered a heavy storm with dramatic scenes of flooding! When I have spectated on El Corte Ingles in the past the stages up in the hills were often shrouded in mist or really wet when it was bone dry and sunny just a few miles away.
It is expected that there will be many spectators in Gran Canaria, obviously from Gran Canaria, and those who will come to the island from other Canary Islands, mainland Spain, and the rest of Europe.
It is an island that is a TOP tourist destination
More than 4.5 million tourists visit Gran Canaria every year.
Perhaps.
Words from the president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria
"Central Europe, in the Nordic countries, the sport is followed in a very direct way. These are the main tourist markets for Gran Canaria. Our connection with 25 countries and 170 airports will make it very easy for fans to come to our island and take advantage of one of the most important races in the world to enjoy our sun, our beach and all the values of the most important rally. Our port, the most important in the Mid-Atlantic, which moves more than 30M tons, will also make easier the arrival of these vehicles from any side of the continent. And that will be good for our hotels, we have more than 150,000 beds, for our catering, for the transport sector, for the small and medium local companies that will provide additional services to the organization”.
