With a modified RX car one don't need to go to the PPIHC for braking the course record these days. See the current 'Open Category' record, done in 2000 by Per Eklund with a Saab 9-3 Viggen that was pretty much further developed than his Saab 9-3 ERC of the same year. Nearly one and a half minutes slower than that current 'Unlimited Category' record done by "Monster" Tajima in 2007… To brake the 10 mins barrier one needs to have a prototype thing built for nothing else but Pikes Peak.
