I was guilty in the early days of being a bit cynical and perhaps jealous in hindsight of Ken's involvement in rallying however I like many I suspect would be foolish to deny his influence on the sport and car culture in general. His sheer enthusiasm and love for rallying always came across and was last witness to it in the Tuthill Classic Safari film which appeared on Youtube over the break.
To his family and many friends and fans my condolences.
Most motorsport guys die from stupid accidents because driving fast is something really hard and they feel they can do almost everything at that level which results in hilarious deaths.. helicopters, climbing ladders to pick fruit, snomobiles, skiing ects....
Oh well rallying did not lose much with block and it also helped to bring the wrong people into the sport... But a loss is a loss and is always a pity when people die below the age of 82.

Very sad news.
I've heard of many fatal accidents with forms of off-roading sport like quad bikes, mountain bikes, scramblers and skidoo's.
Rallying deaths are relatively rare but bring much negative pressto the sport whereas other sports get away with it...
I don't mean to comment on Block's incident, but it's good to distinguish accidents in official sports and just hobby riding.Quote:

Also some years of Rally Sweden are missing altogether from rally-maps so overall maps from those years would be appreciated as well. Namely 2002, 2001, 1999, 1996, 1995, 1992, 1991 and 1988. And also the itinerary of 1987 is missing.

Indeed! And not just this place but the rallying community in general. Although there's also some examples of people who have a big collection of paper maps unwilling to share anything to the digital world, but luckily it's a small minority.Quote:
