And thats not human?! I bet there was no shitstorm when Gronholm cursed the 307 up and down live on radio.

I saw him shifting with the small backup lever, but it's probably all connected to the same issue, as far as I understand. Both the paddleshifting and powersteering are based on a hydraulic system, so if that failed, both of these things might have failed too.
