Lappi Twitter "Retire after SS4, technical problem. No restart on saturday. #RallyeCeskyKrumlov"
Odlozilik didn't start today? Technical problem already before start?
Odložilík also retired with engine problems (he was complaining whole day about low power). Tlusťák broke wheel on the first morning stage (most likely wet and muddy with with fog). Pech took 7 seconds from Kopecký there. Koči had a minor off and lost the 2WD lead to Smékal.
Now usually decisive stage Malonty ahead (although shorter than the most legendary variant).
Many new onboards including Lappi: http://www.mediasport.cz/rally/onboardy.html
Great fight on the top.
Kalista is flying again, now up to 5th overall. Really makes you think if all this modern cars are worth so much money.
Pech takes the lead with 1 second.Lets see if Kopecky can react at 2nd loop.
How an old Subaru Legacy can be 5th overall
He is now 4th after Jelínek retired with broken steering (I guess he hit an infamous rock on that stage which caused plenty of retirements and punctures in the past). Kalista is now probably highest placed historic driver ever in our national events. Hopefully he keeps it till the end!
Tom, there are several reasons. First is really big number of retirements. Second is that historic cars can drive with proper rain tyres unlike modern ones (it's raining today). At least I think it's like that. And the last one and the most important is that Kalista is better driver than many of those with modern cars.
By the way the Legacy is half-group N car. Kalista once said he had gr.A engine (but with 34 mm restrictor according Czech rules - he said he had little over 280 Hp with it) but he had no money for Gr.A gearbox which starts a chain of gr.N parts on the car - for gr.N gearbox there are gr.N driveshafts, for them gr.N uprights...
Another thing is that he is eating all the mud from modern cars today. Especially in first passes it's disadvantage for him.
By the way the temperature on SS13/14 must be close to zero even now and I bet it was bellow zero in the night (in upper parts).
Edit: Historic event is one stage shorter, so Kalista has no chance to write history of Czech rallying :(
