That's true but it also depends on the support they will have from Abart. We'll see ;)

Any chances to see Basso/Rossetti (& Andreucci) on Sardinia, even though that is part of TRT and not CIR?
Rossetti is pretty handy on gravel too, but I believe the Punto is not as good on gravel as it is on (smooth) asphalt,Quote:

Nevertheless I'm happy for him-he has a top-car, behind him stands a very professional team, with a lot of experience, there is no doubt about his driving skills, so he will be able to attack Andreucci&Co....
Heh,I dont agree
He had a top car last year and also this year.I am starting to doubt his skills (better to say age) ;)
Maybe he's better in traditional (subaru) N4..
Well in France Julien Maurin had difficulties in the Skoda and was better in the Pug last year...so why not the same for Longhi ??? :p :
About Longhi-Skoda Fabia S2000, few facts:Quote:

2. Fabia was in the early stage of development (better not to think, how much informations got Andreucci from Peugeot Sport)
3. He did not drive a non-turbo car for more than ten years
4. He won his seecond race with Fabia-gravel rally around San Crispino (with some luck, Ucci had troubles, but victory is victory)
So, this is a short interpretation of story Longhi-Fabia. About his years: almost all top Italian drivers are about the same years: Andreucci, Travaglia, Longhi.
A bit younger generation are: Navarra, Cantamessa, Basso, Rossetti, Cavallini...
After those two groups the young guns are behind them, but generaly much to slow against veterans....
Yes, this year we will see the return of one true Italian legend-Franco Cunico-after he won easily last year Italian IRC with Focus WRC07, this year he will compete in CIR with privately enterd Punto S2000 (D'Ambra). And he is 53 years old, so Longhi is almost a young man compare to him...And I bet, Franco will stand on the winning stairs this season for many times. Old guy did not forget how to drive....
It seems that Italians are not that inerested for entering into WRC.. It's so strong championship in Italy with more then 150 rallies per year.. :)
I don't agree with point 2. The car was fully developped and already a winning car by that time. In my opinion he just didn't have enough testing. Another not mentioned and also important issue is that he used Pirelli tyres.
Let's not compare those two drivers. Maurin should be cleaning Longhi's shoes (if he is lucky) ;)Quote:

We will see, but this info is "travelling" through italian forums from Sunday. I dont know if it is true or not, but I have heard some rumours he was in discussion with A-Style about renting Fiesta...
Novikov in CIR? Tough lessons he will receive...
It is what he needs. No use just in choosing a championship because it is easy.Quote:

Firstly, he will destroy one or two Fiesta's... :DQuote:

So go Novikov CIR Fiesta with A-Style, but it still is not officially?
Manuel Sossella has confirmed his participation at Italian IRC championship. He will drive Subaru Impreza WRC08 S14.
I think, this is ex-car from G.Tosi...definitely a winning car!

Also in this year championship Silvano Luciani(TAM-AUTO P307 WRC).
Still nothing official but very close to happening ;)
Piero Longhi will drive the Peugeot 207 S2000 in the Rally Franciacorta Circuit this weekend. There are 5 WRC's including Luca Pedersoli (206 WRC), 7 S2000's, 6 S1600's, 6 Clio's R3, a Peugeot 306 Maxi and Lancia Delta and 3 GT's, with circuit driver Stefano d'Aste in a Lotus Exige.

I hope Aghini and Navara will find budget and S2000 cars for CIR :(
By the way, domination and victory at the night Rally Carnevale for Broccoli on his 207s2000
Lucchese, 2nd overall on the Grande Punto, finishes at +3'08"
Crazy result in the 2WD with Rovatti driving a Clio N3(GrN), 3rd overall, ahead of all the Clio R3s(Ciuffi just behind him)
Retirement for Michelini(driving also a Clio R3 on this event) :(
Rovatti is a local driver and has won this event in the past.
That won't be easy.. but it would be really nice for sure!Quote:
