I liked president Obama's speech yesterday. He was visibly upset with the tragedy in Trayvon Martin's family. Nonetheless, he basically said that the whole judicial process and verdict were just, specially due to the reasonable doubt standard. If you didn't know, he studied and taught law before getting into politics. He also went on to discuss some problems effecting the lives of primarily African-American communities in the US, such as a high level of black on black rate. Had a white politician said this, he would have been torn apart, but Obama's speech was praised all day long. To be frank about this issue and to have credibility with the public, the president who said this had to be black. Just like to have the credibility with the American people to end the Cold War and make a peace deal with Gorbachev, the US president Reagan had to be a Republican.
