I cound't agree more. Last year it almost looked like he made it but it was until now, he got his chance. With a different jersey. Well, I don't think Leino is too unhappy he is not in Red Wings' roster ;)Quote:

That said, I think Leighton is as much an unknown and then some, and I think the Flyers are an enigmatic team that can be really good..or really bad. Chicago will push them in ways the Habs and the rest didn't...Quote:

May have been either bobby hull or denis savard.
Two rookie goalies is unusual. One has done it before...mainly Ken Dryden, but that was no ordinary team....and he wasn't just any rookie. Later editions of rookies making a mark have done some neat stuff, but you are right. It is the best story not really being made a lot of.Quote:

As for Toews close in points for the playoffs, I suspect Savard since he played a lot of places besides Chicago and he didn't have a lot of playoff runs deep when he was there.
So much for the rookies. Lieghton getting chased on 20 shots allowing 5 goals. I couldn't find any defense to speak of either. I guess the best part was the one goal lead to win the game.
The reportsa are Lieghton will start game 2 and the real Flywers and Blackhawks will be back.
I swear i don't believe I've every seen a blowout from both teams for an opening game to the cup finals.
Monday at 8pm est on NBC; Enjoy the holiday weekend folks.
I acually get to watch a game on a real TV.
Stranded in Northren NJ for the holidays and a motel with cable.Brought my flat screen up from the truck filled the cooler with beers and watched the car raceS yesterday and Hockey tonight. A much better game thus far half way through the 2nd period and game.
Its on now.
exfleyer scores over catching glove of lieghton for chicago 23 seconds after the 1st goal BY hossa.1:45 TO GO 2ND PERIOD.
2-1 chjcago
chicago goes up 2-0 in the best of 7 now two games in philly
Game 2 was a much better played game. Both goalies did well, and Niemi really stepped up his game. Game 1 must have been nerves....
Still doesn't change the reality that the Hawks are for real......I picked them in 6....they may have a quicker end in mind...
I think 6 is a solid number for the hawks. :Like last night and thier previous series they wont just bow down nor go away quietly. They just kept finding ways to advance.
Last night, it seemed like they ran out of gas. They need to find away to step it up for game 4 or they will be giving Philly WAY too much life....Quote:

We got a series now....yikes...
Yep... sure looks like it. :)
I'm confused since for me it's basicly the same which team wins. For Kimmo Timonen this probably is the last chance of winning the Cup. And Ville Leino has done some good job. So... go Philly... I guess ;)
AFF....The Flyers are a ruthless organization who once had Their GM at the time, Bobby Clarke state of Roger Neilson when they fired him: "he was a great coach until he got cancer and all, but we didn't need all the drama".
When you have a guy like Ed Snider signing off on such callous indifference to people as this...you can never cheer for them, no matter how nice some of the players are or some of the fans might be...
Go Hawks :hot:Quote:

3-0 with 2 at the end of the 1st.
Is Chicago going to break the streak or better yet which letonien will show up.
I think Philly will bounce back with Leino doing magic tricks once again...That pass in the last game was just awesome. It's nice to have a Stanley Cup where Finnish players are playing a key role on both sides...Otherwise it would be plain boring since a club from a town of Chigago or Philadelphia really doesn't do anything for me.

Heck, there are Finns on almost every team in the NHL now. Just more Canadians THAN Finns...lolQuote:

Two periods down , The refs got thier gimmie call out of the way and Chicago leads 3-2.
Now its time for some real Hockey. This is good stuff.A pretty even game if one doesn't count shots on goal;I think. I know about the multible overtimes in Phillys past as well as the come from behind series with Boston.Still I think it will be a nail biting third period.
As for Marks Canuckadainian remark, We Americans will except that,And thanks for introducing us to your game.
Go Chicago.
OT in Philly, Like I didn't see that one comin.
ItsOK its good hockey
Black Hawks Got It done
49 year drought???
I happen to see the game with a friend that was 11 years old when his favorite team won 49 years ago.
He is a happy camper right now.
It was fun watching the game and it's cool how most of the Philly fans stayed for the trophy presentations and Chicago's celebration.
Let's watch some soccer now . . . . can't wait.
:s mokin:
Congrats Chicago !!!!! :)
Well done Blackhawks....
And hardly anyone realized the puck had gone in the net at first.
Well done Blackhawks :hot:
It is a good day. The Cup was handed out to a worthy team, and the most deserving of the two. Hawks fans have been punished enough over the years.
It was a good game, at least the parts I was able to see. I didn't get to watch til the 3rd. I was a little miffed when Hartnell got that weird one to tie it up, but that 4 minutes of overtime was NHL hockey at its best. No whistles, no stupidity, just both sides going flat out to end it...and Patrick Kane did.
As for The Philly fans, they stuck around to see the Cup, but they did boo their faces off. Unlike the classy types in Montreal in the old Forum in 89 when the Flames won, and they stood and gave a really earnest amount of applause.
The Cup is a great tradition, and it really is a tribute to hockey that is is cherished so, and the players always shake hands and seem to genuniely congratulate each other. It would be nice if the Philly Fans could have taken out the boos...but hey, it is Philly. This is the town that boos safe landings at the airport....
What an awful series...Because I couldnt watch even one game, just no time.
Great for Blackhakws, they deserved it fully. Best team clearly.
Funny article from espn. Stupid female player saying she would take on Chris Pronger, yeah right
http://myespn.go.com/s/conversations/show/story/5264895
Read it a gain Garry, she said she would take on the sports editor who was ripping women's hockey.Quote:

No..I think Dustin Byfuglien showed Mr. Pronger's weaknesses rather nicely in Chicago in game 5. He tossed him around like a rag doll, scored two and got two more helpers.
I think the MVP being Jonathon Toews was not really telling the story. The story of the playoffs for Chicago was either Byfuglien or Duncan Keith's outstanding play...
She said shed take on Pronger.Quote:

"Obviously, it's offensive. It's disappointing more than anything. I grew up playing with boys, trained with NHL players. I would go head-to-head with Pronger any day I could."
Aaah..but she just said she would go up against him. I didn't read that as if she would take him on and win. Angela aint that stupid...she weighs maybe 160 to 180 lbs I bet at the VERY most....and Pronger...well he is a freaking monster....Quote:

I was really the only one at the party to notice the puck go in, and jumped out of my seat nearly breaking the garage light while everyone thought I was on crack or something, I was too busy screaming "we just won the cup" and everyone gave me a blank stare, until they looked back at the tv and saw the Hawks celebrating
Philly fans there were pretty classless, the mandatory booing is in order when Buttman is out there, but show some respect, the Philly players were gracious in defeat, and its not everyday you get to witness the Stanley cup in person at the stadium.
what an intense NHL playoff season it was and the right team won!!!!! time to party again!!!!
On to the british football league.
Congrats to Chicago and Kane for his litle miffed shot that only he knew went in. I think The MVP might have gone to a more deserving player for Chicago, But what do I know. I'm just a fan.
Overall a well played series by both and I really can't even complain about the officiating. The Philly fans, I wouldn't have expected anything other than that from them.
So untill next year then.............................................. .........
Wuhuu !!! The annual wait for Teemu's decision is over and he'll make a one year deal next monday
Ducks will be my numero uno this season :hot:
