Oliver is a novice on asphalt, and need to figure out where the limit is on different tyretypes.
Most drivers do that in junior classes, but since we up north hardly do asphalt rallys, he need to do this now in a rally2 car.
Good learning outside competition! Hopefully some deeper thoughts about dificulties in Ypres.

Gryazin and Munster testing for South Belgian Rally (which is preparation for Ypres). The test stage looks a bit more similar to roads in Spa than South Belgian or Ypres.

Went to see Tänak this afternoon. He didn't do many runs (and according to what I heard, even less in the morning), also didn't look very confident until late in the afternoon. Quite interesting to see he almost avoided all cutting in the beginning of the test session, only starting to take the cuts properly in the last runs. I think they were struggling with something, not sure what, it looked like they couldn't find any grip. In full wet conditions he looked quicker than on dry. A few photos:

the lack of cutting i watch it at the videos,and yes at most parts he doesnt seem fast.
Lack of cutting could be tactical, like first trying to find settings for places where you cannot cut and the road stays cleaner.
The slow pace could also mean technical problems or testing something very specific.
You don't find settings for places where you cannot cut, simply because all stages have mostly corners where will be cut. I don't see the use of testing on a clean "uncut" stage for Ypres, especially this year. About testing specific things you're right, maybe sometimes not on ideal tires etc.

The cars look amazing, as if they were competing in Wales Rally GB lol. Really hope we'll have Ypres running next month...doesn't look very promising atm...Quote:

The serrated edge is certainly something new that nobody else tried so far. The modification of the bottom plane is more like C3 non-homologqted aero.
Anyway still after 3 years and 2 modifications that add front downforce they still want more. (but yeah they added rear downforce with the previous front mod at start of this year too)

They tested some other small changes also. And yes, mknight, they keep searching for more front downforce, to balance the excess generated at the rear.
