Sat 18:52 - SS21: Evans
Quickest so far and still battling for second or third. "It's turned out exciting. Yesterday I never thought we'd be in this position. A podium is possible for sure. Let's wait and see."
Big fight with Neuville tomorrow... Breen: 'Bring it on !'
Would be great to see M-Sport with a four car team, have Teemu in the squad and best two drivers score manu points! Four different liveries too... now whose the third driver?
from second to fifth, it's all open. Great rally
Edit: to sixth, since only 14 secs between Neuville and Breen
SS21: 1-2-3 for M-Sport. :)
Too bad for Latvala, he was doing a great rally. On the other hand 2017 just pulled another trick from the bag and we will probably have a new winner again!
Has anyone else won on his 4th event already? Mighty impressive from lappi, I have no words, beyond impressive. So sad for latvala. Just when he had a chance to join the championship fight again!
Totally disappointed with Tänak this event. Something just so wrong. Evans whole day faster than him and no speed at all.
More thinking, less words maybe...
Predictions for driver of the rally? It'll likely be Lappi and he totally deserves it, but Latvala could still be picked. Had it not been for his failure he'd probably be comfortably leading today and ready for his fourth Finland victory :(

pitty for Latvala,he was doing an excellent job. This year that he has avoided driver mistakes,he has mechanical retirements.
Definetely not a lucky guy.
Driver of the rally? Definetely Lappi.
Latvala competing for 13 years non stop,to win a rally inside your homeland isn't something special
Road position today imo. He even said it in an interview. Al Quassimi and Sordo in front of him have completely different lines + road cleaning. He was leading until the crash on SS4 and also friday afternoon did good times without any motivation.
Leg 2:
https://www.ewrc-results.com/leg/360...nd-2017/?leg=2
He beat Sordo by 1:47. He is second M-sport point scorer and now they have a chance to extend their lead in championship. If he went full push and was 20s quicker (Lappi speed) it wouldn't change anything in the standings anyway with possibly much more risk, so as a team boss I'd be very happy with him.
You're right, I would probably add Suninen, Breen & Evans to this list, not shining as Toyota drivers but both deserve some credit - Suninen 2nd in his only 2nd wrc collecting some stage wins on the way, Breen for doing so well with the car he has, and being in front of Neuville right now, Evans for his impressive progress on this surface.
They are so many, can't pick one.
Hanninen has not faired well when under pressure. I think Sunninen will take second and Evans third even though I would love to see Hanninen on the podium.

Up to the end of Leg 2, the 2017 @RallyFinland has been the fastest event in WRC history (average so far: 127.1kph) #wrc #RallyFinland
Suninen or Lappi for me ( in that order).
As mentioned Latvala drove this a million times and won 3 times.
Lappi very good but car obviously works very well (using Hanninen as reference), and the team is based here and it's where Lappi could drive the car most.
For Suninen it's second event and he had only limited test close to the rally after Ogier wrecked the car, if he gets second place I'd definitely pick him.

On Latvala onboard from the retirement there is some sharp impact on the corner just before loosing power (4:38 in). Could have contributed.
Sebastien Ogier will not restart Rally Finland for the final day after further medical tests on his concussed co-driver Julien Ingrassia.
World Rally Championship leader Ogier retired from Friday's leg when suspension damage from a heavy landing led to a crash in which his M-Sport Ford hit a tree on Ingrassia's side.
The rally's chief medical officer Dr Timo Kaukonen said late on Friday that Ingrassia had suffered concussion and advised him not to compete for 15 days.
While acknowledging that decision, M-Sport wanted more time to get further tests done so checked Ogier's repaired car out of parc ferme for leg two before retiring it again.
It had to go through the formality of restarting for Saturday in order to be allowed to do so on Sunday, when powerstage bonus points are available.
Having had a CG scan on Friday, Ingrassia underwent an MRI scan on Saturday at a different hospital. The scans were both clear but the diagnosis of concussion was upheld.
He is expected to be fit for the next WRC round in Germany next month.
M-Sport's Rich Millener said the team accepted the decision.
"We just wanted some through checks from the neurosurgeon today," he said.
"They came with the same prognosis so that's fine.
"He just needs some time off to make him fully fit for Germany.
Sebastien Ogier Rally Finland 2017
"We had the [Friday] decision given to us late at night without the crew and we wanted the opportunity to make a further decision today with the crew around, and that's what we did.
"The organisers agree with us. There's no harm to going to get more tests, which is what we'd done.
"The outcome is the same as what the CMO here said. The CMO gave great advice.
"Nothing against any of the decisions made previously, we just wanted to get some more options before the final decision."
FIA rally director Jarmo Mahonen backed M-Sport's decision to seek further advice.
"I'm not a doctor, but the understanding is that it's a medical ethics issue and you're entitled to a second opinion," he said.
It initially looked like the damage to Ogier's 11-point WRC lead would be limited as his title rival Thierry Neuville struggled in a distant ninth on Friday morning.
But slightly improved pace from Hyundai and attrition ahead has moved Neuville onto the tail of fifth-placed Craig Breen going into the final day.
Neuville is on course to get either eight points for sixth or 10 for fifth, with another five available on the powerstage.
"It means [Ogier] will go away from here with nothing but you can't risk the safety of the crew," Millener added.
"[Ingrassia] needs to look after himself. There's no point doing anything else.
"Germany's going to be exciting for the fans now."

Let's go! Lets start to check out Mads on-boards on plus.wrc.com! Which stage?!!! :D

Ogier didn't restart tomorrow https://www.facebook.com/MSportLtd/p...type=3&theater
Latvala will restart?
So zero points for Ogier in Finland, not even from the power stage.
Neuville's poor performance here wont cost him anything.
If Neuville doesn't get any points in the power stage honestly....Ogier will take that title....
On a more positive note, what a drive by Lappi, on only his 4th run in a World Rally Car and not just any World Rally Car but a 2017 spec?...most impressive!! I mean when you think about it up until this season their was a pretty nice difference between R5's and WRC cars, but this year the difference is huge, so to come like this and win (is it?) 8 stages?! Hats off to him and to be leading...really hope he will cross that finish line tomorrow in the same position he is now. BTW, when was the last time a thing like this happened? I know Loeb won on his 10th event and Ogier a bit after that...speechless for now.
Also what a job from Sunninen, on only his 2nd event? Finland's rallying future is looking very bright right now like it's very own northern lights.

Now Ogier unfortunately can't restart tomorrow, Neuville can become first 'new' driver to lead championship since Latvala (SWE '14). #WRC
