Just saw a pic of him in a sponsor meeting with some Norwegian drifters so he's not in Portugal.Quote:

We're leaving today, skipping the shakedown unfortunately, but really looking forward to the rally!
On certain rounds of this year's WRC, the crews are permitted 10 tyres which can be used in exceptional conditions. This move was prompted by heavy rain during last year's Rally Australia, when the crews were forced to run on unsuitable hard-compound covers.
Going into this week's Rally Portugal, the drivers will have 40 'hard' Michelin Latitude Cross tyres, with 10 softer tyres available if the rain does arrive in the Algarve.
From Kevin Abbring's Facebook page:
It unfortunately wasn't a regular and easy recce for me this time. I apparently picked up a virus on the way towards Portugal. After spending over 7 hours in the hospital on monday evening after recce day one everything is improving now. I'm in very good medical hands here. Nothing to worry about anymore and nothing I could do about it. Hopefully it's gone soon so we can focus 100% on the rally. Like I said, it starts to get better. Let's see what happens on the shakedown. (12:00 local time) Thanks
