But anyway, it's precisely because of these hard-driving racers that the stewards need to be above any question regarding their impartiality. In football, for example, there are some fouls that are automatic yellow cards. Taking off your shirt to celebrate a goal is one. Some think the rule is silly, but nobody accuses a ref of being hard on a player for booking in this situation.
In F1, on the other hand, two drivers get a reprimand, and this means that any other drivers who do the same thing may get nothing, or a reprimand, or a black flag. It's just not clear, and not consistent.
