Could rain in Mexico as well. It did in 2017. In 2018 it rained in Sardegna, in 2019 in Argentina and Turkey.

Reports that Tanaks car stopped after fafe jump
Estonian media writing the same. No more info at the moment.
The world champion @OttTanak gives up on his second pass through Lameirinha.

Yep, they’ve managed to test for Mexico, Argentina, Portugal, Italy and even for a winterish Wales, as the last 2 stages were run under heavy rain and fog! ;)
He retired after Fafe/Lameirinha second jump (the most famous one) with some kind of tech issue (we were on the first jump and the car seemed ok). Anyway, Tanak was impressive all event long, managing to get some extra kms with the car in quite challenging conditions. Sordo was also lacking kms (absent since Catalunya) and the way he was driving clearly showed he was having a great time (so do we, by watching him!).

Btw, after another fabulous show from WRC drivers on a national event it’s hard not to think that if 2022 regs end being based on R5’s we’ll miss the current WRC cars for many years. They’re probably the most amazing machines ever created for this sport.

Not something official and RallyPower should be able to confirm, but the guy has a cut in his head and from what they were saying on the reports he broken his hand in the fall as well. Montim is a fantastic stage for watching because you can see large chunks of road and it as tall banks were you can stand safely. The problem is that there are always some idiots that bend down to the road. Thankfully in WRC Portugal security is much more tighten and this kind of stuff does not happen. And Hyundai ended up tested the effects of rallying the car in just half wing.

Sordo’s car rear wing was replaced on mid-day service but even with a damage wing he was flat out all over the place. The guy loves Fafe stages and is always eager to provide the crowd (which include many of his compatriots) a first class show. Big thanks to him, Del Barrio, Tanak and Jarveoja for their commitment; hope Hyundai gets a 1-2 in Mexico with them (that way maybe Toyota and MSport could be tempted coming next year to Rali Serras de Fafe ;)).
Don't really remember Hyundai diving like that before. But it's just one picture.
For sure for spectators it's nice. But as I have been saying for over a year now it's not good for WRC at all. Teams that have money use it to avoid testing restrictions. Hyundai in this case, but Toyota also have their own way to do that (testing around Jyväskylä), and also did quite a few local starts.
Result is that teams that have less money can't compete and leave (Budar complained about this openly last year). Citroen's gone already and now it looks like it's MSport time to drop out of podium fight for all rallies.
I don't think it's that bad for WRC. Teams that have more money to spend, will spend it anyway, and that will always bring an advantage. Having them testing on local rallies gives the other teams more opportunities to see what they're working on.

More than a proper test it was clear that Tanak/Sordo entry in Fafe was a way to give them competitive kms on gravel, which makes one wonder how resourceful can Hyundai permanent test base in Germany actually be. Do Hyundai drivers run there in proper rally roads like MSport drivers at Greystoke or Toyota guys near Jyvaskyla? Btw, Citroen Satory base was pretty useless in terms of gravel roads.

Thanks for sharing Est. That ob is from SS1; we were on the fast right curve, 200m before the last left on the film. Tanak did the curve flat out on a spectacular slide but from inside it almost seems there was no bend at all; it’s incredible how he makes it look so damn easy.
Toyota i20 continues the develpment test for 2021 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_vOnEKuSG0
Actually I have also one question about testing. How is this avoided that Toyota isn't testing any parts of current car? I mean some engine parts, suspension... If they can run this Toyota i20 as much as they want, maybe they can test some old and new parts and if they see progress, they can later do shorter test with Yaris as they have more info from the i20 test.
