Whats with the spotlight under the front pumper on Hyundai?
They use it to get data, but I'm not 100% sure which data.
Those are ride hight sensors, they messure varience in the suspension and how it performs under loads. Very common when testing suspension set up. It is, effectively, an optical mouse tracking sensor. So it can do height, distance, yaw angle, speed, and probably a couple more outside of the box. Then you put all of that data to interpolate it with the regular telemetry data, and you can make a lot more sense of a lot of data points.
It`s a CORREVIT sensor, like in this link

Gus Greensmith on his Monte PET:
I just got back from two days testing in Monaco, it was really good, went really well, really positive by the end of the day, I think all the footage looked really sideways, but for me, Monaco it’s quite important to be confident with the car, rather than finding the ultimate setup and time, you’ve just got to be confident in changing conditions, so that day was about throwing it in, I did it last year, so I don’t see why it shouldn’t work again.
Warren Nel
I said that fans had been watching the testing videos which had been posted online and were saying how the car looks quite lairy and sideways.
Gus Greensmith
Yeah, people love it and it’s not the fastest way, but unfortunately when you’re driving in Monaco you’ve just got to be prepared to throw it into a corner that’s going to have no grip in it what-so-ever, so we have to send it in, and I want to be the fastest person transitioning from tarmac to the ice, and that’s why in the test you saw me throwing the car around from corner to corner, I want to when I get here I know exactly what’s it going to be like before anyone else.

Such an incredible talent. Would love to see him really announce himself and show how good he can be early in the season, so the pressure doesn't start to build on him too much if results aren't there.
It's hard to keep expectations in check considering how much natural talent he has, but hopefully if he struggles/ takes time to adapt, he will still get the time and patience (most) young drivers need.
I'm beginning to wonder if this is the play-station generation of rallying youth. Similar to what's happened in F1 with all the 18 year old's that have impressed lately (I don't mean they have learned their craft on the PS either).
Really wouldn't be surprised if he nails it and we see something similar from young Solberg too.
Ogier will be WDC, Lappi will be WDC, Loeb will be WDC, everybody will be WDC this year!
who put it in the ditch?
Οgier today
very rare sight, last time he had a crash on test was with the Fiesta at Finland PET but that was because the bedrock lifted him or smth like that
Trying hard to find a limits of Toyota
Could be a result of over confidence, considering how driveable the car must feel compared to the sometimes tricky and unpredictable C3.
Ofcourse he is just trying to find the limits in changeable conditions, but as you say it still is a rare sight for Ogier to go off like that.
That would be amazing! Though I can get to Rally Sweden quicker than Rovaniemi, but still personally it would be great. Proper winter conditions and already good team behind it organisation wise.
If you realize I was joking. Having Arctic Rally in WRC would come at the expense of Jyväskylä Rally Finland.
I don't know much about Sweden's rallying scene, is there any proper rallies in Northern part of the country that could be converted into WRC level? Something with a relatively big city nearby.
Yes I realise. Just daydreaming that we would get two rallies here. And also about winter rally that you can be sure will be run like planned.
Arctic Rally is also super fast. Last year the fastest stage was 141 km/h and multiple stages over 130 km/h, on R5 cars.
Well, it's uncommon for a country to have two rounds in a championship. Unless they made it a "Nordic WRC event" like European GP. Also, I believe the ASN would run out of resources arranging two WRC events. Meanwhile, car manufacturers are probably more interested in going to Canada for a snow rally instead of Finland which is a relatively small market even for one WRC event.
