Ah. I was righe before the next hairpin, at the end of the fast area. Latvala spun 2 corners after that hairpin.
I was surprised about how well the ice held through the red house hairpin and out of it. The stage would've held two runs today and prob. one more tomorrow!
Andolfi rolled on the fast right hander near the end of Torsby Sprint, replay shown at the end of the AllLive coverage.
I went to your place first and then changed my mind. At my spot I could see the flat out corner on the straight which was cool. But there indeed was too much (snow) dust from WRCs to see the following 2 ice corners. R5s and slower you could see fine.
And yeah in the whole area the ice and gravel barely had any scratches in them after whole field passed. I drove the first section of the stage between spectator area 1 and 2 afterwards and that one had some nasty ice-ruts, but still should be no problem to run it tomorrow and could have been driven one more time today. But I get the organizers can't change around so much on short notice.
Holy cow, hate to see side-impacts, glad that they are 'okay' and getting checks at the hospital. https://twitter.com/JonArmstrong84/s...97019531366405
This video is not very artistic but actually very good as it is exactly the same pass for all drivers/cars it is easier to compare them.
Fiesta WRC looks a little ponderous in direction changes compared to the others IMO.
Hyundai R5 pretty impressive now, new Fiesta R5 still looks/sounds a little down on power to me (or maybe it's the gearing?) Work to do for M-Sport anyway it seems judging by stage times alone.

"We are satisfied with our morning, we managed as best we could. The result is not what we expected ... but we expected it. Our position as an opener is a disadvantage, especially on the part "earth". Each car is a little faster than the previous one. We can't do better than what we did. We have to settle for the position, but we can be satisfied with the loop made this morning ", the Belgian explained to our microphone this afternoon.
"It was a lot colder than expected so the tires did not overheat. The studs held up more or less. There is a special today and we will not start first normally. We must stay focused on Ogier. just behind us, its position on the road is more or less equivalent. The gap is small, we will try to get the five seconds missing. It will be better tomorrow ... ", also analyzed the Hyundai driver.

I needed to look up the number plates !
"Knowing that we opened the road, I think it's a good day. There is little snow so we find the same complications as on a classic land rally. With each restart, we feel that we are losing a little traction. Ogier is a good benckmark: when I see the gap between us, we can be satisfied with our day. In terms of difference, we are not very far from the podium. game during the 2nd day ", explained Nicolas Gilsoul, co-driver of Neuville.
"It froze quite a bit last night, between -10 and -12 degrees. The road was freezing, it made it possible to have a floor adapted to the tires used. The organizers had the good idea to let us put four new ones tires before each stage, it allows the rally to be in good conditions. The podium is still possible. Victory? We are very early in the rally, even if the event is short. We are not there to be second ", concluded our compatriot.

I wonder, is Ogier feeling any pressure by Evans perfomance? Pressure that can ruin all season?
He'll certainly not be happy he's so far back, considering similar road positions. He also won't be happy that Kalle was quite a bit faster as well (until his stall).
Ogier won't have envisaged Evans having (near enough) the measure of him in terms of speed across two events so far. But it's result that matter, and it's upto Evans to actually make his speed count this time. His final few stages in Monte were very lame, after his superb drive upto that point.

still to soon to tell because Monte and Sweden are so specific events but yeah, the biggest surprise for me this far has been his lack of speed compared to Evans and today he was even the slowest Toyota (the main team). and you cant blame starting position because Evans started right after him and the gap between them is 18 secs after 63km only
i wrote this already in Monte thread but i see it again at this rally, he just doesnt look happy at all, looks like last year with baffled and worrying face all the time.
but lets see how the situation is couple of rallies later.
I don't think Ogier is a guy who would crumble under pressure. From what we seen in past championships he's usually the one who can kick it up a gear when he needs to and come on top of most in the end. If anything, I believe if Evans keeps his pace in few more rounds, we will see Ogier getting quicker as well.
ogier knows when to be fast and when to be safe.
remember 2017, he won only 2 rally's but yet the championship.
ogier will feel the pressure from evans right now, but the big question is if evans can keep that pace up for a whole year without crashing.
One theory about Latvala retiring for good instead of going to Rally2 - now there will be one less cars sweeping the road for Breen and Neuville. Tommi probably offered him Sardegna for the same price if he packs up and goes home now.
Happy to see Lindholm Jr leading the R5’s
In the competitors section under WRC notice board on the Rally Sweden webpage there are onboards from the sweeper car opening each of the Friday stages after they were run.
Nice idea, sure you can watch onboards if you have WRC+, but this vid is free and it is much easier to see the conditions.
Not that it counts for much as there is a small risk that the weather gets a tiny bit warmer and it changes, but right now it has started to snow at a point in the Finnskogen stage!

Well i think he was pretty upset and upset Jari-Matti isn`t at his best...and paying for it (opening and cleaning the road for a place far-far from his plans) himself probably made him think.
