Aren’t you being a bit too harsh on Ogier? If an accident happened in that tractor chicane for sure everyone would be now saying that it was an avoidable and stupid risk.

Al Rajhi crash gone to WRC-TV :)
Whoever came up with the idea to basically troll rally fans by uploading a minute of Meeke's run through Ouninpohja is a useless dog, as NOT would say. They've never done that before, but decide to do it with a drive that so many people would love to watch. These moronic berks in charge are what holds this sport back. As someone previously mentioned, a full video of that stage could have gone viral. We've already seen WRC drivers and Valentino Rossi comment on that incredible fan video, and this would have similar impact.
Ogier's run through Ouninpohja back in 2013 was uploaded on the YouTube channel and got just under 300k views - Meeke's would get much more imo. This should be used to promote the sport and attract new viewers to the WRC youtube channel etc, but instead they're just desperate for a few extra subscribers to WRC+. Small time thinking or what!
I have WRC+ so at least I can still watch it and all the other fantastic onboards, but have to watch with picture quality that's barely even standard definition. Sadly for those who don't have WRC+, they won't get to see that incredible drive even in low picture quality. The idiocy is beyond me

It's not that difficult making things go viral these days, just hard work over time to build some contacts and a bit of luck is all it takes.
WRC got lots of people for that job so if one guy can do it, they can.
Got my video up on Rossi's FB page as well as Twitter, just a shame Youtube video's are "blocked" quite a lot these days on FB.
Up to 90.000 views already and last years video up to 930.000 views now, guess getting that insane spot in Ouninpohja helped ;)
Good to see that they are trying harder with the onboard though, enjoyable watching Breen's FX camera i think it was, just should have been a few cm lower.
I agree with AL14 - you should give yourself some more credit. Ultimately it comes down to the content - and it has to be good (which yours is). In this day and age you can simply just pay to ensure your videos/posts have a huge reach. But when you see something like your videos generate all this through organic growth, just through fans and word of mouth, then you have to take notice. It is a very interesting case study I think and the WRC should be looking at videos like this. What do they have that their coverage doesn't. There is really no excuse because they reccy the stages too.
What is crazy to think is that if you got just a few of the people on this forum together and combined resources - you could create a product that blows the WRC offering into the weeds.
Few pictures from Rally Finland http://www.mkpictures.com/2016/Neste...nland2016.html
Simmi just imagine how would look a video created by SubaruNorway at stage1,from Metka at stage2,from Belgian guys at stage3 etc.(sorry if i forget somebody)
If these guys had a small help with money,so they could afford 2 days more at each round, and could recce all the rally meter by meter.
i am talking with something 1000 euros for each of the 4-5 teams maximum.Really peanuts, but the result i am sure 101% would be astonishing.
Guys, don't get carried away now
Thanks for the kind words! :D
I always go over on Tuesday for Rally Finland to recce stages, especially important this year with so many new and revers stages.
I did Sundays stages on the way up, 13 hours on Wednesday just missing Jukojärvi and then Sunday's stages again after shakedown since they were a bit difficult to figure out. Some tree chopping along the way, even got a couple of spots ready for MeTHKa that i didn't use i could see, 0.20 sec and 2.19 in his video ;) So all in all with onboard watching it's probably more than 20 hours of preparation, hopefully this doesn't make me seem mental :p
As for promotion goes i only spent 15 euro on my Facebook page, if you don't only something like 1/4 of your likers will see it. In defense of WRC-TV, using a tripod and having a spot where you could set up commercial banners does limit you a bit. My footage looks quite shaky when you watch it on a big screen.
Keep up the good work - Just as long as Greenpeace don't find your chainsaw!!!

Sardinia again next year I think
A quick estimate says about 30km, so like normal in Finland, heavy enough with a 4kg camera backpack :)
A bunch of us got told off by Ari Vatanen for sitting and waiting at the Power Stage being tired from walking so shouldn't complain then ;)
A try to make it look good when doing it so the land owners won't get mad ;)
It doesn't hurt clearing out the forest a bit in Finland, compare Solberg's Ouninpohja with todays and it's quite a big difference!

I think that you have walked much more than that...
It wasn't that bad this year, here's the walk in calculated to 2km in my head into Päijälä, only 1.6km each way.
Hänninen's corner top right if you want to know where i went, entered from the west side of the stage through a cleared out forest since i was going to the end of Ouninpohja after, the entry road is very narrow by Hänninen's corner so figured this was shorter and safer :)
A bit late but not to worry , just a quick note of my first trip to Rally Finland.
Thursday was spent at shakedown and service then onto SS1 , Friday started with SS2 Mokkipera , on to SS4 Jukojarvi then SS6 Horkka , after lunch back to Mokkipera and then Surkee finished the day back in the service park.
Saturday started with Ouninpohja had planed to watch all cars plus the first few Vetomiehet but this went out the window when first the wrc stage was terminated and then after a few cars the Vetomiehet stage was stopped as well , so we moved on to SS16 , after lunch back to Ouninpohja and then back to Saalahti , finished the day in the service park again.
Sunday was more relaxed , drove to Oittila and watched the first run ,while relaxing in the car noticed the 2 guys next to us were wearing Richard Burns shirts that's when I remembered about Rallyper mentioning this and just shows it's a small world , there was Rallyper and son also Pantealex so we all had a chat and then back into SS24 , where we went to the stage finish.
On the way back to Helsinki we stopped into the Jamsa hotel where there was a fantastic model rally car display on show also the big Dakar truck was in the carpark getting ready for the run over Ouninpohja on Monday after that we drove the whole Ouninpohja stage a lot slower than Kris but very enjoyable.
A fantastic experience and i'd reckon we will be back next year , my son is planning the trip already.. thanks to everyone for putting up tips of spots on stages, every spot we went to were first class.
I have a question. Has someone a pic of the fiesta of Tamrazov? It could be in action or in servicepark during rally finland. Its is car #81
Thnx!
Here you go. Managed to snap him on Harju.

Read through this entire thread now and discovered that we have not posted in like we usually do.
Wonderful rally as usual and the whole atmosphere with everything around in the surrounding is absolutely wonderful! Already longing for this year's competition.
