Ott Tänak will start in Rally Estonia ERC event with Hyundai WRC car. Nice! There will be an Estonian Championship event and they will compete there.

Nice, there is a reason to go now! didnt have it in plans to be honest
Exactly the same. Was thinking should I go to Latvia or Finland (sadly can't go to Poland which was my first choice) but now this made my decision much easier :)

Tanak big crash in Estonia, crew OK
Car looks bad https://www.facebook.com/share/r/rA1...ibextid=UalRPS
really weird one, the car just goes sideways while on jump. nothing they could do there.
Urmo Aava, who was at the scene, commented to the rally radio (Duo Raadio): "I really don't want to comment, they speak for themselves. There was an opinion that the car made some strange moves. Probably some surprise with the differential. The legend and driving line were otherwise correct."
nothing left of the car https://x.com/PowerslideMedia/status...95514662015261

I assume he will have been using a spare engine rather than the new one fitted before Poland?
Glad they are OK, looks like a nasty shunt.
I’m sure it was the test car not the actual one.
But that’s also bad news considering testing for Latvia and Finland
Wow, glad they're ok. I dont like the look of the car with all those panels missing.
That wont help his confidence going into two more very fast rallies.
It cant help seeing the car like this though...

Cars just don't start turning in the air. He has more power/traction on the left side just as he lifts up.
Hard to say whether that's due to the road (for example if right wheels where on grass/in cut) or for example due to weight transfer.
Not quite sure what diff failure can move more power to one side. Drive axle issue could I guess.
Cant believe these people just standing there and filming after the crash !

Clearly a problem with the rear right wheel before the roll...

Oh my god, Hyundai’s crappy suspension is back
Can you explain what's wrong with it? I can't see it.
From these pictures I can’t see anything wrong.

Very weird, from that low quality picture, the wheel looks like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flKhgo8es_o&t=77s
But from those high quality pictures, looks like suspension is fine

a little better video
From this it looks like he lost the rear already before launching into air. Landed too much sideways with too much speed. It didn't land too much on one side but weirdly it still initiated the roll. Without knowing anything it just looks like he overcooked it, too fast in slippery conditions.
I'll weigh in with my 3% forensic analysis knowledge and blame the rebound of the compressed suspension lifting the car over the crest, combined with the corner.

Idk, here looks wheel very weird, but on other ones it looks not like this, weird, maybe it was like this after few rolls?
The photo just after launch looks fine to me, just a silhouette of the wheel at full suspension travel.
I think he gives the car a bit too much side momentum just before launching over crest in too high speed. The lift went higher and car was totally wrong direction when landing outside of the corner...
You can see the steering was full left in the air...

when watching this clip with loud volume i hear some kind of bang or noise when he enters the jump
Aftermath and car recovery. The right rear wheel at 45 degrees like it was on that screen grab...

Yeah looking at the latest vid sent by Oliverk can clearly see that the right rear wheel is nice and tight where it belongs to be.
Clear driving error, case closed and let's move on.
Damn Thats some crazy footage. Would have been one of the greatest saves but sadly it started rolling
Amazing how smart some people are! one different angle video and all clear :)
watched it with paused and 0.25 speed, still weird to me how the backend just flips to the left suddenly on the jump
i wish they could comment themselves what happened but seems it wont be the case

maybe someone can explain how the front driver side pushes down to the ground so quickly? Aero working like this from an angle? Car is straight and then the left front snaps down and flips the car
Mein smol theory: Rain-soaked gravel was especially soft on the right side, pulling him hard to the right when he braked on the jump.
