-Most people said that was the hardest rally in Europe, because of very bad roads and traffic mess.
-Simo Lampinen was reported, but he didn’t start.
-First part 1268 km with 6 SS, pointed for Yugoslavian Championship.
-Yugoslavian car Zastava 101, was not pointed for European Championship, because they have not yet been homologated.
-72 crews on start, in organization of Belgrades club „Akademac“.[/ (not prepared), from rent-a-car. The car has only rool-cage and two additional lights.
-Pinto was in hurry to compensate the difference of 626 points, because of the delay for Donatela Tominz. Never the less, on break-neck cop gravel of mountain Kopaonik (SS12 Brzece), engine of Fiat didn’t make it.
Sory for my bad English.
Hello RobertS!
7th YU Rally (Yugoslavia) 1973.
-Most people said that was the hardest rally in Europe, because of very bad roads and traffic mess.
-Simo Lampinen was reported, but he didn't start.
-First part 1268 km with 6 SS, pointed for Yugoslavian Championship.
-Yugoslavian car Zastava 101, was not pointed for European Championship, because they have not yet been homologated.
-72 crews on start, in organization of Belgrades club "Akademac".
-First etape from Porec to Rijeka was on gravel road. First SS rise, was on mountain Ucka.
-Whole route of rally was traced with most difficulties gravel road. Specialy was difficult, routh from Bosnia without SS: Karlovac (Croatia)- Bosanska Krupa- Sanski Most- Banja Luka. On this phase, retirement 20 crews.
-Also Pinto destroyed suspension on his Fiat. In 7th etape, he was late 14 minutes, because of repairing of his car. First part of rally, he finished on 11th place.
-On that night, retired 28 crews. On 2nd SS Tara, was starting only 44 crews. On that SS Jovica Palikovic (YUG) also destroyed suspension on his Renault 12 Gordini. He was driving with punctured tire on "cube" road. Till then he has four punctured tires!

-On second part of rally, started 16 crews, only two from Yugoslavia (Serbia). Petar Kolic was driving 1251 km mostly on third gear due to gear-box failure. Ivan Matosevic finished with borrowed money for gas. His VW Beatle was from regular production (not prepared) car, from rent-a-car office. The car has only rool-cage and two additional lights.
-Pinto was in hurry to compensate the difference of 626 points, because of the delay for Donatela Tominz. Never the less, on break-neck cop gravel of mountain Kopaonik (SS12 Brzece), engine of Fiat didn't make it.

Does someone knows something more about French driver Christian Gardavot, Porsche 911 SC?
7th place in San Remo 1978 and 10th place on Tour de Corse 1986.
If it's other results from him you are looking for, there are some in my database:Quote:

The entry list for the Welsh Rallies of 1974 and 1975 can be found in the excellent new book "The Welsh Rally" by Mark Griffin and Martin Leonard. The 74 list is numbered down to 240 and the 75 list to 214 so I am not about to retype it. I'll email you a scan of the relevant pages tomorrow.Quote:
