That certainly can be a hidden reason too. It's easy to find some "official" reason to cancel stages here as the spectators really are everywhere. So if the teams decided to use them as a reason to safe themselves not to look that bad...

They were lucky with it during the IRC years. During that time Monte-Carlo was apparently too good for WRC. Now they've completely managed to botch the opening of the season.

This has been one of the best RMCs in a long while, with conditions worthy of the name. It's not like they canceled Turini before running it, it was run. Twice. What a disappointment...?

Yes I would like night stages too but if it's impractical with the crowds in Alpes-Maritimes region then some other rallies should give it a try. Rallies have to adapt to the conditions. We'd all be shaking our heads at RMC's organizers if they ran Turini again tonight and a car lost it and wiped out spectators.

Oh how you just missed the mark! They haven't botched the opening of the season, not by any means. Chances of any changes to the overall classification were slim at best, and we've had the enjoyment of 3 full days of snowy Monte at its finest.
If anything, this was one of the better season openers in recent years, if we disregard the amount of WRC entries. Overall though, there have been plenty of positives to take from this rally in many ways. Not perfect, but very good.

There was still time before the stage run - so the uncontrolled spectators are usually real reason if the cars are near to the stage - until the organisers are working on that. The road section can be more difficult here. I bet to the tyres.

They actually have police several kilometers from stages in this area. Only media can go through. But that doesn't change anything. When You have a narrow road in the mountains where there are crossroads only after ten or more kilometers You don't solve anything by stopping the traffic two kilometers sooner. You just move the jam but it's still there. There are no roads to go around so it doesn't matter if You block it 100 meters from stage or five kilometers away.

It can´t be any RMC next year with that bad organizer! Not for ever. Such a bad organizer with no foreseeing at all... not expecting crowds to visit a Saturday evening??

I guess Citroen wanted it this way. Maybe something wrong with Sebs car we don´t know.

This is not serious doing like that.

I´m totally furious about this. Two more stages that could have changed it all!!

I guess we have to cancel Pickem´s as well...
