I believe edv has ruled out Asia, Americas & Europe.
My extensive knowledge of funnyculars tells me I should rule out Antartica as well.
So how about Nigeria for a great mining/tourist destination?

Not China or Nigeria. You're missing a pretty big place.....
argentina?
USA?
(Sorry if I've just made a big ass of my self but I haven't read though the thread properly.)
Canada?
Russia?
I would refer you fellows to post # 921.
Australia?
Namibia?
I'm thinking the one in the Blue Mountains just west of Sydney which would make Daniel right on the money if this is correct.
Indeed! It is the Katoomba Funicular...which is quite a scary ride.Quote:

I'm happy for Daniel to take it because him saying Australia made me think of the one at Katoomba.Quote:

Not the French Franc, they used to use the CFA which is the unit in most of old French Africa.
They are very close to Canadian waters, off Newfoundland, only a 25km away.
The unusual thing I was thinking off involves the French history of North America.
I need to clarify something, the CFA isn't the monetary unit in use now, nor is it the French Franc.Quote:

I guess they use the euro now.
unusual thing? where they bought?
Gadjo_dilo got in first, the Euro is correct.Quote:

Come on Canadians, you should know this and any French members should know this as well!
As far as I know the islands are under French control, and as such, use the Euro :mark:
Yep they use the Euro, as Gadjo_dilo said, can you fill in the blanks in my previous post.Quote:

That sounds about right, but better let cossie confirm.Quote:

I'll try to attach a picture, but can't guarantee it'll work as I've never tried before.

I remember I saw it in a photo album about Ukraine but I can't memorize slavic names. It was something like " lastun "somehow. Maybe I should call up my cousin who has the album.
I was with a group that did a two week Dnieper River cruise from Kiev to the Black Sea. I only got as close as what the picture I attached shows. We were told that the inside of the building is nothing special, but I did get to tour a couple of other castles closeby that are quite impressive.Quote:

She certainly is a menno, her mother's maiden was Jansen, she was born in Vancouver after her parents went there after end of wwII. Her father isn't a menno though. I did a quick search on the net and found Mennonite Heritage Cruises, am I right in guessing you went with them?Quote:

Anyway......back to the castle. Care to name it, or do you still want to give the others some time?
Swallow's Nest.......................
Nice to see that my stupid question about your interest in Ukraine made you find similar family roots. Now I feel like the good fairy from the TV Show " Surprise, surprise ".
Don't know if cossie is right but it's probably very close. Because the word I remember (" lastun " ) means swallow.
Swallow's Nest it is, your Q cossie16.
