The map have worked well in the past, but if your driving alone, it could get difficult to handle and for sure it will be in about eight pieces by the Friday evening ;-)

Strange that they changed that since it seemed that was what all the drivers wanted to try.

I've used a GPS for 3 years now and i can't figure out how we managed without it before! So easy and stressless to get around now :) And the maps seems easy to set it with too. Thanks for all the info!

Are there a lot of toll roads in Finland?

Yeah, just to remind everybody coming to Finland: This summer has been extremely hot and the forests are very dry. Please be extremely careful with anything that has something to do with fire. Forest fire during the rally could easily generate major "sh*t hits the fan" -situations for the organizers.

Yesterday I recced Kolonkulma and Väärinmaja (SS12 and SS13). Kolonkulma is very idyllic stage, even though it's short, for me, it represents the true nature of Rally Finland. :) Beautifull scenery, winding road through farm houses, forests and fields not to forget that one pond. Shame that they drive it in the same direction than last year, as it has been driven in both directions in national rallies.

Väärinmaja has dozens of different road types in it. If (read: when) we have some fights in our hands on Saturday morning, they are resolved in here. The very narrow small road has been refurbished and it's now mainly very slippery ball-bearing type of gravel. Some forest works have changed the look of some parts of the stage but nothing major.

What to pack is a big one. Two things you should prepare yourself for are the early mornings and if it rains. First stages of the morning run early and it can get well below 10 degrees then. The rally is organised at propably the best time of Finnish summer and last years the weather has been nice (meaning no rain, some 20-30 degrees in the sun), but in case of rain you better have rain clothes.

In the picture is the axe to cut down some of the forest to gain better spectator access? Migth have problems getting through customs but lol. Can't wait for the Rally to start

The axe is definitely not for mosquitos, that I can tell.

Not big enough, eh?
I hear you use Bofors 2 x 40mm for them.

That brings up a question: Has there ever been any recorded loss of spectators to mosquitoes? How do the organisers manage to arrange that no spectators should be carried away into the deepest träsken ?

How about Amarillo on Wednesday evening at 18.00? Good food and in the middle of everything in the city of Jyväskylä. Everyone?

Have a couple of beers and feel the rally coming.... :D
