With all the lost time the overall result was only of academic interest. We chose to give ourselves better time to service the car, sort out the technical issues and prepare for tomorrows stages. We have only had two days of testing so far and need the milage without pressure, says Mads.
My opology to Toyota. I am very happy to write that.
Vargasen 1 and 2 live on BT Sport tomorrow for anyone in the UK.

First off, thanks for not being a NOT and being civilized. :)
I think the stages should go on. In the past average speeds have exceeded the 120 km/h you say above, so there's no reason to enforce them. In addition, Ogier always, no exceptions, will try to get his way by whining and complaining. Hell, the running order change was likely heavily encouraged to the FIA due to him.

Maximum average speed rule has been long gone. And wasn't it 130 km/h when it were in regulations? Now each stage gets a go when its safety standards are cleared by FIA.
Sure Rally Finland organizers have thought about this for well over a year now. New cars still doesn't rule out using normal stages. Maybe new stages are looked up from smaller roads, but I don't expect any major changes. Some spectator safety issues have already been addressed in previous years, like moving spectators zones in open areas a bit further as average speeds have got higher already a year after year. Outside spectator zones you should have the freedom as per usual.

Ott Tänak: "3rd place after day 1. It's been hard work to be at the front on the road, but new experience for me and very happy with the job we've done! We had a bit of push on the last stage and managed to gain few places so we can be pleased with our start position for tomorrow. I must say big thank for our estonian fans, as it feels like driving home and support is huge"

Guys don't be so sure what is on pace and what pace actually. It's the first day. Nobody is pushing at 100% now. Let's talk about Toyota at the second half of the season, when teams and drivers get to understand the cars, then we will begin to see who built what base package and who does well in the constant development process.

I will wait until the proper rallies of the season to draw my conclusions. Monte and Sweden and partially mexico are not rallies where you can see clearly the pace of the cars, unless of course you believe that Neuville can be faster that Ogier by almost 1 sec per km in equal conditions.
But then again for me rallying is more than just watching hairpins.
About toyota my opinion remains the same, a village nationalistic team of assorted nobodies with no future in this sport.
yes, after 2 very unique events in the calendar. Shows nothing for people with a functioning brain who watch the sport from a less than basic perspective.
To brag about toyota based on latvalas performance in sweden it would be equally stupid to bash them because of hanninens performance.
I am not expecting people to become smart, that is impossible, but at least stick to your own basic world and discuss basic rallying things like who jumps the longest at colins crest and wake up at 6 to go and watch a hairpin to see who pulls the handbrake and who doesn't.
Not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this negativity. I wonder sometimes if you are so important in the Rally world... are you that important N.O.T ? Would be nice if you could share your story/history/biography or CV and show what you are good for. But that will probably never happen. BTW: ''proper rallies'' ??? Have you ever driven any of these rallies ? And very classy as well that you are telling us how 'we' have to experience this beautiful sport. Enjoy the rest of WRC Sweden, I will!! including colin's crest and a hairpin here and there!
