That logic most certainly applies to final day or two if differences are so large that it's next to impossible to gain places by trying like a mad man. In those situations teams instruct their drivers just to reach finish.

This is nothing new, however. Richard Burns immortalized such tactics in 2001 when he became champion with just one win against three drivers with three wins. Consistency is the key, never throw away points that you're sure to gain over points that you're very unlikely to get by risking it all.

Yes on the last day, I concede you that jonkka, and this doesn't offends me, but when J M Latvala, to the arrival of the second stage of the rally said: "my goal is the top 5 for this rally", this is only the first day... And Jari Matti is a great driver with the best car and not a rookie in a poor team.

He knows very well can't beat Ogier here, behind his words he probably means "podium would be great result for me here".

History shows that JML has one 2nd place, one 5th place, one 12th, one 40th place and four retirements from past ten WRC editions of MC. That record doesn't make him a likely winner in this very specialized rally so he's clever by not trying too much.

Concerning JML I think that you shalt be in agreement with me that the problem is not his ability of driver, but his mental. And his record would be much better on this rally, but also in a general way if he believed in a little bit more in his skills. You know perfectly that you can't win any race in any sport if you don't exceed thee even. It is a pity

Can't wait for the onboards of SS10 and seeing real Monte conditions. Big time gains and losses with tyre choice are such a part of this rally history.

i said that he didnt like it because,If you see the twitter from Msport,as Evans passed the flying they typed that their new fiesta evo r5 was faster than 3-4 wrc cars. Soon Suarez was much faster from Evans.

I'm sick of WRC Radio full stop. Cant stand it and just put it on as drivers reach the stage end to hear their interviews.
