All PSA R5s reached the finish!
@HaCo: Cherain went off on the penultimate stage of the day. He punctured the radiator and continued, but had to stop, no option. Next week Léandri is normally going to drive this car in Corsica, let's hope there's no severe engine damage...
Had a great Condroz Rally by the way, photos and some resume are for tomorrow. ;)

So, how about next year? Are we going to have a battle between Loix, Tsjoen, Casier (IIRC he plans to do the complete BRC next year?), Princen, Kobus (?), Verschueren and Cherain? That would be very good, let's hope Snijers as well. :)
Loix most likely with Fabia R5 (supported by Skoda Belgium), Tsjoen continues with 208 R5 if plans don't change. Cherain will drive a official Citroën DS3 R5 next year. Princen wants to have the S12 sold before they buy any other car (most likely R5). I think Verschueren will continue with DS3 R5. For Snijers it's always a big question, I think he will do some events with Fiesta R5, he's doing a small event with Fiesta R5 in a few weeks. About Kobus nothing is sure, I heard rumors he wants to drive the Dutch championship next year, then he can win against nobody...

There are several options I think. With 208 T16 the longest gearbox is little over 200 km/h but short one somewhere around 170 km/h.

Tsjoen's 208 is for sale, no? Advertised as available after Condroz http://www.rallycarsforsale.net/clas...tails&id=79221
Kris was driving a short gearbox (top around 174kph), while Verschueren and Tsjoen were driving a medium one (top speed around 185kph). Data showed that on saturday Kris was driving in 5th gear for around 50% of the stage-time.
Also did anyone notice how detailed his notes are compared to for example a gravel rally in WRC? It's interesting to see they are using "ice" for the places where the grip is bad. :)
I'm quite surprised that they chose short gearbox for this rally (surprised by the decision not the fact which was quite clear from onboards).
I'm glad you thought that as well. I think they've added more details to his notes, and it seem to be a recent thing. I've never noticed them being that detailed; 'ice' 'mud-slippy' 'don't slide wide', etc
I wonder if it was for this event, or they'll carry on like this in WRC events.
It should be only for this event and probably in Monte-Carlo, it's a typical Belgian thing. Many drivers have very detailed notes like that, many small but important things if you want to drive on the limit.
Such details are quite often in Czech notes as well. Funny one is for example ZMK in the notes of Černý. That's acronym for "Za mokra klouže" which means "slippery when wet".

really nice photos Tom!
IMO Loix was not at all at his best in this event, punctures, of the road and generally not that fast as we are used to.
He told in an interview that he was saving the car for next year and there was still a lot of development necessary on the new Fabian chassis.
Looking forward to 2015 BRC, hope everyone finds a proper R5 in time.
Great photos Tom, thanks for sharing
I agree but he is only in his first full season in the WRC..
And I see WRC.com were impressed at his 'giant-killing' in the R5 car against 2.0 WRC cars:

Thanks Dimvii and dodge33cymru ;)
Had a great event. Also the most crowded rally I ever visited. Again the organisation failed, by having only 2 stages that started on time, the first stages of both days. Also in crowd-management they failed completely, not enough forbidden areas (or not big enough) and not enough marshalls to handle the (often drunk) spectators. And for time-registration they failed as well. Times of SS4 being cancelled, a stage where Solberg lost a minute and Meeke lost 40s, coincidence??
Anyway, seen a great, spectacular and fast rally. Meeke was very impressive (as anyone can see on the countless videos), but I was surprised to see both Loix (until sunday morning) and Cherain (before he went off) having times so close to him. All 3 had a very similar agressive driving style. Solberg was a little disappointing for me, he looked quite calm, and also his driving line looked very safe. He didn't take many cuts that other drivers (like Meeke, Loix, Cherain, Princen etc) took. It looked like he didn't put a lot of effort in recce and preparation. Also you don't expect a national driver (Princen) to keep up with him. Princen knows the terrain, but still a C4 should be quicker than an older Subaru S12...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnfedL-UoBw - Nice video. Big moment for Loix at 39s.

Tommeke, I was thinking the same about SS4, big coincidence, although I think Meeke and Solberg are real sportsmen. Somebody must have taken splits.
Really great to see a young guy like Cherain going that fast. In contrary I get more and more disappointed in Verschueren, hope he can improve.

No, incorrect. Also impossible to take a shorter route, it's not a desert rally. ;) The problem was the time-keeping. From what I heard so many spectators passed in front of the photo-sensors of the flying finish that the system went crazy. Normally there is a back-up system where times are taken manually...
