If they went back to the old rule about the leader of the rally starting as nbr 15, the tactics would more or less disappear. I think that is what most of us want. Watching some drivers almost stopping on the last stage of the day is horrible.

Please consult older threads about road position for this discussion topic and not proliferate it here as well. We've already beat the horse to dead.

BTW, leader starting from behind is not old rule. Old rule is if you are leader you start first, this coincide with most other sports in the world. You don't have a top qualifier in F1 starting in back row. Then the rule changed so leaders started last. Now its simply going back to the old rule that has always been.

PS, Ford's strategy is very good here. Mikko is in the back while Jari is leading. They cover both possibilities of either slowing down or not without explicitly slowing down.

What I don't understand is if they are going to slow down why don't they take the opportunity to entertain the fans instead of sitting before the yellow board. I don't know, how about drive over the finish in reverse or reverse over a jump. Have the codriver drives the car while the driver stand on top of the roof, if its Loeb he can backflip over the finish line from the roof.

Well, I haven't followed rally long enough to have experienced last time they used todays starting order.

The difference from F1 and rally is of course that in F1 it is an advantage to start first - but you know that for sure.
