Just for the avoidance of doubt, the image doing the rounds on here and FB, of Meeke allegedly in a ditch on today’s test with Toyota, is fake news
---------
at French forum they wrote that the windscreen at this photo vs the videos is changed.Of course windscreens dont change only after rolls.

They try to hide it... It would be bad for marketing so soon after reveal the big news..
There`s something funny about these videos and images. That prestine-looking Yaris doesn`t have an "All live" sticker and has Finnish plates in videos, whereas some videos show a test car with Estonian SP plates and an "all live" sticker. Official news also shows Meeke sitting in a car with all live stickers. https://toyotagazooracing.com/releas...c/1017-01.html
E: Just checked again, can`t find the video or maybe i was seeing stuff ( license plates thing), but the all live sticker was clearly there in some cases, which could be just as simple as changing a windscreen for some other reason.
The official press kit had pictures of Meeke driving the Yaris with the All Live sticker on windscreen. I presume those were taken yesterday or some days before, which is also when the crash happened with the All Live sticker. In the crash the windscreen got broken, and was changed into a windscreen without All Live sticker, and this is the car Meeke drove today.
I think the team has asked for the rally enthusiasts watching the test not to say anything about the crash, but the tractor driver hasn't heard of this and uploaded the picture casually to facebook or something, where someone has found it and put it circulating.
Roof is damaged:

There weren`t "Panasonic" stickers on the front aero in 2017, nor was there such kind of aero in 2017, visible on this picture.
Mikkelsen rolled the I20 on the Portugal test in 2017 and no picture or vid ever came out, neither was there any confirmation from any of the parties involved.
Here we have
- picture of a rolled car where the stickers match those used on the test and the autumn leafs match those on other pictures from the test
- pictures of a car with different windscreen and damaged roof afterwards
- silence from Toyota and Meeke about the picture being "fake"
So Occam's razor.... which explanation is more likely
a) He rolled and they don't want any publicity around it
b) Someone created a very good fake picture that fits + Toyota changed the stickers/windscreen from one day to next + Toyota for some reason damaged the roof of the car going into the next day

At the end of the day... who cares... And even if it's him, what's wrong with that? It can happen, especially to him who his crash prone. There's nothing special if you think about it.
I feel that if someone ca cool down Meeke, and make him perform till the finish lime, it is Tommi M. It looks like it is a relaxed atmosphere in the team.
Meeke need some sauna and beer, and cool baths in cold Finish lakes!
Honestly, the problem is not even Toyota supposedly trying to hide it (that’s a common and understandable procedure when these things happen), it’s more the way people in the social media are eagerly saying Amen to the fake photo allegation, promptly accusing those who do believe it’s not fake of being Meeke haters…
They try to hide it because it happened so soon. If that happens in like 3 months from now on it wouldn't matter much.
Hello, Meeke fan here. I actually don't believe it is fake.
Having looked at the photos, there clearly is damage on the roof of the car, across the centre probably above the roll cage where the dents can't easily be knocked out. Also looks like a little damage on the drivers side a pillar.
I disagree about the windscreen being replaced though, looks to me like the top section where allive sticker is has just been covered with black duct tape.
Where do you guys see the number there? They never run test cars with numbers on it. And Toyota’s numbers are orange.
It seems that several people confused seeing the rollcage through the window with a number "17" being on the window.
There is no number on the window. There is no "17" anywhere on the car.
It certainly looks like he had a light roll, or partial roll, and the team are keeping this quiet.
That's their right to do so, and the speculation here is the right of interested forum members!
New theory is a photoshopped Corsica crash (Latvala). Well, maybe there are similar damages...
So if the picture is true, why is there no mud on the side of the car?
Really?

That doesn't explain the damage on the car seen in testing yesterday.
At the end of the day, it just looks like a light roll. Kris exploring the limits in a car that is new to him, better he gets it out of his system before the season starts!
Just very unfortunate it looks like it's happened now so early on in his Toyota adventure.
Agreed. The cars definitely suffered damage between the two days and on the roof too. Looks like nothing on the scale of things and it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s been told to go as hard as he wants to understand the car.... ok, a roll isn’t ideal, but it doesn’t look like it’s affected much.
I'm finding it hilarious now how much talk one picture of a car on its side has caused.
Maybe just leave it there and go on?
