RIP
Terrible news. :(
Uuuuhhhhh.
Investigation interesting to see. Safety always most important. What differs R5 from WRC cars regarding sideimpacts?
Very sad, RIP :(
Terrible news indeed.
There is likely not much to investigate. Side impact onto a pole is one of the most dangerous things which can happen. Not much can be done about it. You can't take down poles around the roads and there is no way to make cars immune to such impacts, the risk can be only somewhat reduced but even with the most safe cars this type of accidents can be grave.
They have basically same safety features as previous generation of WRC cars. Current WRC cars have advantage of larger width. This additional width is used to enhance safety in side impacts by having stronger sills and enlarged side deformation zones (much thicker door filled with energy consuming foam).
RIP, very sad news.
Very sad news :(
My condolences to the family of tragically victim of this accident. It is again a remainder how dangerous this sport can be....
I hope Lefebvre wiil bring this very important victory to home.....it will be a good advertisement for Citroën and their ''sport customer business'.
