great photo!
why would someone build a copy an only moderately successful car (that was readily available on the market for probably less than it cost Finely to build his own)?
I wonder if the Zephyr engine ever saw this car?? :D
BTW this car called Finley still exist and complitely restored as it was in 1983.Quote:

Phoenix has it.
As I am sure many of you know, Greg Weld passed away suddenly last week. A few weeks before this photo, he started this car at Milwaukee, and avoided a first lap wreck that eliminated 10 cars. In the ensuing red flag, teammate Art Pollard (who had been eliminated) took over the car and carried it to victory lane, making Greg a co-winner of sorts, although he only drove 1 lap. Regardless, that same summer, Greg won 4 consecutive pole positions on the mile dirt tracks.
An excellent dirt driver, He won the Knoxville Nationals at 19, was runner-up to Johnny Rutherford in the USAC sprints as a rookie in 1965, and USAC Sprint champion in 1967.
He retired at a relatively young 30. The story goes, he was complaining to his dad that he couldn't get decent quality wheels, so his dad said, "Why don't you build your own?" He did and it developed into Weld Racing Wheels. He retired to concentrate on his business.
Thoughts and prayers to his family.
You're up next Phoenix.
AM that was a Great Photo.
I have the a photo of the 57 car at Milwaukee with Art Pollard driving it which is also a cool photo. I believe that the Milwaukee win with Greg Weld/Art Pollard was the last shared win in Indycar racing. It's not something you can do today with fitted seats for the drivers. They can change them in the car but it would take alot of time to do and go down several laps.
New Photo coming up.
