Tanak goes into 2nd ahead of Neuville in the WDC.
Ogier extends his lead.
M-Sport almost there in the Manu championship.
What a rally.
My thoughts exactly...
Well deserved. Hope he can take the confidence boost and get his bloody act together with it.
The championships are pretty much over anyway. Even if Ogier DNF at the next round and Neuville takes a 30 pointer he will still be on the back foot. Hyundai have some work to do to strengthen their suspension components.
Meeke runs the full championship (except 1 rally), has won 2 events and he barely makes it into the Top 10 of the Driver's Standings....
Great rally from Meeke, I actually believed in him: https://twitter.com/AnttiL_WRC/statu...81686797750285
Also great performances from Hänninen and Suninen.
Evans was off the pace as he often is (because of Dmack?) and Lefebvre was doing the pace he usually does, with a couple of decent stage times, just without any mistakes.
It's not just about Meeke. The car is poor in difficult conditions and it also broke when he was leading in Corsica.
True. And every other driver has said the same about the car, even Loeb. Plus look how lost Andreas was on the gravel.
Meeke's pretty good pace on the gravel here is encouraging, but then again it's similar to Mexico. Let's wait and see in Wales and Australia how Meeke/ the car perform, as those roads are much different in character

Totally agree. He needs to see a psychologist or go visit some hindu guru or something that can teach him this and make it stick.
I fear that Meeke only has three modes though... "slow and steady", "fast and lucky" or "fast and crash".
The fact that i didn't see any small moments or mistakes from him this weekend hopefully indicate that I'm wrong and that he is developing a fourth mode.
Oh c'mon...
Every car have had technical issues this year. Hyundai breaks suspensions in cuts, Toyota have had a plethora of issues (and poor latvala has actually never crashed this year), the Fiesta was running on two cylinders more than once etc.
It is his own fault. His car has given up once. Neuvilles twice now and he is third in the championship.
If you stuck Ogier in the car at the beginning of the year I bet he would at least be 2nd in the championship by now.
Any update on the % of chances the potato useless dog of garbage has for the title ??? I estimate around 95% but need confirmation...
Meeke keeps making these surpise flashes of maturity every now and then. Usually when I finally have sense to leave him out of my pickems
I know that Meeke can be fast here, but every time when I was that feeling and put him on no1 at pickems or other betting - he crash. Now I don't put him on any betting and a result - he didn't crash!
And if we all know when Meeke didn't crash - he win :) But it could be more difficult in Wales to him.
Most likely low traction, wet gravel and mud in Wales won't be C3's best friends.Hope it doesn't end in tears once again...
Happy for Meeke and Citroën, they really needed a boost. Happy for M-Sport and I really really hope Ford marketing managers see that. Happy for Hänninen as well.
Neuville again confirmes that inside his head he isn't a champion. He keeps defeating himself way too often. Overall another disaster for Hyundai.
I still feel bitter for Kopecký. He won all 13 asphalt stages but all was ruined by stupid starting order into the first leg. On the other hand I am fully aware that Suninen drove as fast as he needed and I don't say that without the incident with Serderidis Kopecký would surely won. At least it would be decided by speed.
Congratulations to Meeke and Citroen. Specially important for the future of the team.
First incident-free rally of the season for him. Sure some might say there is no pressure on him now (without any other fast driver in the team on this rally and without any championship chances). But while that is true he still needs to drive faster than all others and win.
For Citroen with the 3 tarmac rallies with 2 different drivers it confirms C3 pace on tarmac and there was also some speed on gravel, but that is hard to judge with road-cleaning and dry stable conditions.
Troublesome that Lefevbre didn't repeat good pace from Poland without even short glimpses of speed. If they get a different Frenchmen to join them next year, his position is in trouble.
Ford likely secured manu title and almost secured drivers title. Very good performance especially from Ogier on Friday. Ogier also had the longest stint of fastest stage times since Portugal or even earlier.
Hyundai had another rally to forget. On Friday Mikkelsen confirmed he is fast, but Neuville struggled... then on tarmac it was the other way around. Decent pace from both Sordo and Neuville but the car looked really terrible in some turns on the TV stages even though the times were good. (Neuville handbraking where others turned just fine, some even without any understeer). They didn't had these issues in Corsica so I wonder if the pre-event changes to aero caused some of this. While the DNFs were due to hitting stuff, Fiestas survived same hits that the 2 Hyundais did not.
Toyota actually had quite a bad rally, even without Lappis off. Sure some good times on smooth high-speed tarmac, but that wasn't much of a surprise after germany day 2/3. What was a negative surprise was the lack of pace on gravel on friday and again reliability issues.
Kopecky lost 1:14 to Suninen on Terra Alta 1 where Serderidis' dust blocked him. On the morning loop he was losing about s/km to Suninen, so maybe he would have lost 39 seconds anyway? At the end of the rally Suninen was 31 seconds ahead, so it would have been tight without that incident.

Back in the hotel after some great days! Really enjoyed our visit again. Friday two times Terra Alta, first time a gravel spot and second one downhill tarmac, quite spectacular with the gravel tires!
Saturday we did 4 stages, also some nice fast spots and than even watched the super special in Salou. Today we did the stage of the powerstage twice. Overall another great rally!

Perfect win for Meeke/Nagle and Citroen! Fantastic rally from Ogier and Tanak; it’d be great to see MSport getting the manu title in GB. It’s only missing Ford full support. Hats off for Rally RACC organizers; they’ve managed to run the event without problems, despite Catalunya troubled times. Well done!
Kopecky was in a class of his own on the tarmac stages and he probably would win without first leg dust incidents. Nevertheless, it was nice to see Camilli doing great times on gravel and Suninen improving his pace on tarmac. Btw, Nordgren debut at Skoda wasn’t mind-blowing, still he keep improving all rally long and was able to avoid mistakes; P4 at the end is a good result.
True, but I consider that to be a part of the sport, it's a combination of car and driver. Camilli would have won without his diff issues. But having to drive at some slower driver's dust because of a stupid running order is a different thing.
Like I said, it would have been tight. Did Suninen control his pace with Kopecky far behind? Did Kopecky push like hell because he had nothing to lose? We can't know.
Agreed. I think Nordgren is maybe pulled too early to the WRC events, he hasn't really driven anywhere else than in Finland (and last year's Rally RACC).Quote:
