Time to exhume this thread.
Finnish rallying championship continues this weekend in Joensuu, Itäralli is the name of the event. During last years Itäralli has been run during the winter, but now it makes return as a gravel event. It's a much-anticipated return as the area is well-known for it's rollercoaster-like roads. A lot of jumps and dangerous bends ahead. Personally I will make my first trip to event. It's over 600 km of travelling one-way, so no wonder it've taken time to get there.
Entry list didn't provide anything surprising. Most of the regulars are in, but there's no interesting one-offs. Fredrik Åhlin had this event in his plans with R5, but he didn't enter explaining the mileage of the engine didn't allow it into their schedule. Anyway, 113 crews entered: http://www.itaralli.fi/wp-content/up...hyvaksytyt.pdf
Normally there will be results page, GPS tracking and internet rally radio, but those links will update later in the week. There's also some sort of broadcast from the super special stage (horse trotting course) for anyone interested.
There has been a handful of gravel events already since mid-May, some of which have served as test ground for FRC drivers. Kaloppi-ralli included for example Juha Salo, Jussi Vainionpää (debuted in DS3 R5, self-built from the kit, #21) and Kristian Kiviniemi (crashed). Teemu Asunmaa and Joni Nikko had a close head to head battle last weekend in Toivakka-ralli. Toivakka-ralli included also the most famous part of SS Ruuhimäki, the jumps, but this time in reversed version. It was refreshening to see old historic cars having air time over the jumps. One Corolla crew however jumped too far, SOS and ambulance was needed for the hurt driver. There were also few very bad corners in the event, take a look at this video if you enjoy Finnish Runki: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JXIdP4f95M

Kalle Rovanperä Test Days Skoda Fabia S2000 [VIDEO] https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zrwZmuugqNQ&feature=youtu.be …
Can someone please do some analyse on Kalle’s (14 yo) driving. I can see that the car is moving forward, turning and sliding sometimes but that’s about all.:) Only thing I noticed was at 1:25 why he was not cutting but that got an explanation at 1:28. A long turn.
I am just wondering if we have any news about Mikko Pajunen's plans for this year...
Finnish rallying championship 2015 have its ultimate round this weekend in Tampere. Stages are renowed old 1000 Lakes stages like Västilä, Sahalahti and the most legendary of them all, Savo. This year's speciality is that SS Savo will be run twice but in both directions. This will for sure give new experiences for drivers and spectators.
Rally will start tonight with a super special stage in a trotting track after which they will run one proper stage tonight as well, SS2 Pengonpohja. That will start 18.30 CET, 19.30 local time so most of the crews will drive it in darkness.
Championship-wise Juha Salo in his privately-built 208 R5 has a stronghold on the title, but it's not certain yet. Jussi Vainionpää in his privately-built DS3 R5 has a chance too. If Vainionpää wins, Salo must be 3rd or 2nd.
There will also be four special stages with simple live broadcast, a couple of cameras in the forests. I've liked that thing in the previous event. First broadcast is tonight from SS Pengonpohja.

That would be very good!
Toyota Gazoo juniors Takamoto Katsuta and Hiroki Arai will drive all 6 rallies (3 winter and 3 gravel)
Finnish Rallying Championship 2016, some news:
- Kristian Kiviniemi have bought a DS 3 R5 (ex-Olsen from Norway). They try to compete with it for the first time in 2nd round in Mikkeli. Arctic Rally they'll do with an Evo X (ex-Salo), unless it's sold before the event.
- Jarmo Berg will compete with Fabia S2000 (ex-Sääv from Sweden). Last year Berg was very spectacular, no guts, no glory kind of driver with C2, so of course we expect nothing less with the new car.
- Ville Hautamäki will compete with Gr. N Subaru. He has been top contender in 2WD with Honda for many years (reigning champion), but he has never competed in 4WD. Nice for a change.
- Mikko Lehessaari has entered the series with Fabia R5. Earlier the rumour had it that he might not do the whole series, but we'll see. He has not competed in 2 years, so getting rid of the wrist rust is the first thing.
- Mikko Eskelinen will do the whole series in Lancer WRC step2. As for Arctic Rally, there are two other Lancer WRCs on the list too.
- Still a lot unknown things for me as far as - for example - who'll drive Gardemeister's Fabia R5, who'll drive Printsport's R5s, etc.
F-Cup isn't F-Cup this year. It's a promoter owned brand, competitors were unhappy how the promoter handled things and demanded an intervention from our ASN, AKK. That happened. Brand owner brought F-Cup brand to Harrastemoottoriurheilu (which is now established organisation who also organize events, but with looser interpretation of the regs) with whom they should do the series in 2017 (this year they do a rallysprint F-Cup). AKK's F-series is called F-rallisarja and that is practically the continuation of the old F-Cup now. A bit of mess, you don't say.

shame for Nikara, I also would like for him to get a chance internationally. Very nice drive by Hiroki Arai, 3rd overall!
Jari Ketomaa has entered to Vaakuna-Ralli with Mitsubishi R5 car. That's interesting.
