James("Jimmy") Rae (no connection with McRae)
I took this photo of Jimmy Rae on the 1972 Scottish Rally. Car is the Frew's of Perth Escort RS1600. In 1973, he won the BBC Wheelbase rally scholarship and the loan of an ex-works car for 1974 (the Mikkola 1973 RAC Rally car, OOO97M)
Dario lists Berg as co-driver for Ingvar Carlsson on 72 Scottish. In the entry list it is Ingemar Carlsson, so there must have been a late change.
Here is a photo I took of Carlsson on the Glenurquart Forest stage (this stage is behind Urquart Castle on the shore of Loch Ness, where people search for "The Loch Ness Monster"!)
Who was 4th? Adrian Boyd, RS1600?
Dario, many thanks.Quote:

Would like to know the winner of the Manufacturer Team Prize on the 1973 Scottish International rally. Also want to know the names of drivers & co-drivers within this team. Can anyone help?
nca.
Ingemar and Ingvar is a very common mix-up even for swedes...
..
Definitely didn't include me - we retired with broken steering, balanced on the edge of a large drop on High Lock Eck. Pretty sure they were in Escorts - the first 10 finishers were!Quote:

Ingvar Carlsson/Ingemar Carlsson appear in the entry list as driver/co-driver but the result listed above says co-driver was Berg so it's a late change of co-driver if correct rather than confusion over names?Quote:

Ingvar and Ingemar are brothers and they run together on the 72 Scottish rally. 'Motoring News' dixit ...

FAL,
Thanks for your info'
Would you please have a look at that entry list for a Tom Flett or Fleck.
Not quite sure which one is correct. Believe he was a co-driver on this event
(1973 Scottish)
nca
Can't see any name like Flett or Fleck as either driver or co-driver. There are a couple of cars in the official programme with co-drivers to be named.
So, the mention of "Berg" as Carlsson's co-driver on 72 Scottish above was incorrect?
FAL
Thanks very much for your prompt reply.
I was speaking with a bloke this weekend who claimed to have been in the team that won the Manufacturers team prize. Perhaps I misunderstood the year, but there again, I cannot remember a name like that, as a leading co-driver.

I am particularly interested in any Morgans that finished the rally in that period, and what if any prizes they may have taken.
I am also interested in any information regarding a special bodied Morgan, prepared for and driven by a Roger Harper, at this time. UK registration VNO 600. Harper had previously rallied a Ferrari Inter, and the Special Morgan was very similar in appearance.
Any information gratefully recived.
nca.
If anybody is looking at the entry list/results for that era I would be interested in any information on my uncle John Liddle who I believe navigated on the RAC several times at about that time (probably with a Mr Ripley from somewhere in Yorkshire).Quote:

No information on co-driver - maybe it was John Liddle, who knows?
By the way, do you know the first name of Mr Ripley?

Januszsz,
Many thanks for your detailed reply, which gives me plenty to study.
Very interesting to see names such as Ron Crellin, and Pauline Mayman, whom I had not associated with Morgans.
May I ask if your source for this information is on-line?
NCA
Thanks that is interesting. I know there are some press cuttings in the family archive which may include Mr Ripley's first name; I'll ask my brother to dig them out when I see him next .Quote:
