well Citroen did that for Loeb too (Sordo in Catalunya), just that it was almost never necessary

Rovanpera first disbanded the shock absorber when he apparently hit the stone with a Päijälä special test. After that, the car broke off more. However, Rovanperä and his colleague Jonne Halttunen tuned the backup system by replacing the shock absorber with the gear lever.

Esapekka explains his accident on SS20: "I went wide in a really fast place and the rear caught a tree stump and then we hit some rocks with the front and then spun 360 on the road and the car is too damaged to continue. I was expecting it to turn a bit less but I think the pace note was correct I just tried to be ‘on it’. I was not expecting to finish like this."

Am I right in thinking that if Teemu takes a late time penalty following the Power Stage it won't affect any potential PS points he can take?
I believe one of the proposed rule change options was that any driver who took time penalties on the final day would be ineligible for PS points, but in the end I think they just mandated you had to be in the correct running order for the stage to score.

Would be nice to dig out the exact wording of the revised rules. Cause it might be you get "really" penalized for anything on final day.
Might be easier just to slow down in the stage.

Should be possible to get penalty afterwards yes.
