"Mercedes wins, again"
Mercedes team scored another dominant win during Chinese GP, however not without a last minute drama. The team was on course for a podium lockout when leading Mercedes GT S steered into the pit lane on the last lap with the finish lane in sight. The two Mercedes’ cars remaining on track finished in 1st and 2nd position.
After the race rumours appeared that the leading car might have actually been ordered to drive off the track to secure the double win for the new state of the art Mercedeses W06, the team boss not being keen on seeing less advanced GT S crossing the finish lane first.

“Team not happy with Maldonado’s pointless finish”
After running in top 10 during the race Pastor Maldonado again failed to score any point, for the 4th time during this season (from 4 starts, including 3 consecutive retirements in previous rounds). However his team is not pleased with the result.
“His objective was clear this season” team boss explains. “Keep on the back of the grid and cause some spectacular pile-ups to spice up the boring races. And he hasn’t delivered. He hasn’t crashed into any notable driver, hasn’t disrupted fight for the win. Even more, he allowed former champion Jenson Button to crash him out of the previous race. And today he simply finished outside the points. He showed absolutely nothing, driving a clean race. Even worse, he was heading for a strong top 10 finish – luckily some mechanical fault hampered his progress. We expect to have a serious talk with him before the next race.”
However he insists Maldonado has full team’s support. “We all know it’s difficult to join the new team and start crashing right off the bat” he says. “But overshooting pit entry during last race in China was promising. We hope he will unlock his potential during next race in Barcelona. He already won there, so he won’t feel pressure to win there again.”
