50th Mecsek Rally (penultimate round of Hungarian Championship):
I was not there, I decided against going after seeing the not too strong entry list and the programme. Hadik won in front of Ranga, who won all the stages on saturday to climb up from 10th to 2nd, finishing on the podium 19 years after the last rally his famous, late father competed on. Crowd favourites were Herczig with Octavia WRC and Bútor with 306 Maxi.

Final round of the Hungarian Championship ended today, amid big controversy as Kazár was excluded, because yesterday he didn't stop at Velenczei's crash (the crew was still in the car, as they were having trouble getting out), then he didn't stop at the next radio point, just at the stage finish. When he received the papers of the exclusion, he tore them up. It is possible he will get some sort of a suspension. Anyways, results:
1. Hadik-Kertész, Ford Fiesta R5 Evo 1:11:21.7
2. Spitzmüller-Béres, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X R4 +41.2
3. Vincze-Kuti, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX R4 +1:07.8
4. Bodolai-Molnár, Ford Fiesta R5 +1:31.9
5. Balogh-Holczer, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX +1:45.4
6. Kiss-Varga, Ford Fiesta R5 Evo +2:00.9
7. Matics-Zejda, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX +3:17.0
8. Lovász-Kürti, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX +3:20.5
9. Rongits-Hannus, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX +4:04.3
10. Maricsek-Notheisz, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX +4:53.1
Notable retirements: ifj.Tóth - crashed radiator on chicane, Ollé - slid off into a valley, Kazár - excluded.
With all victorious R5 cars around Europe, it is funny (and sad too..) that in Slovenia on the Rally Idrija (final round for the championship) won Rok Turk with P 208 R2!!!
Of course this does not reduce Rok's magnificient drive (I spectaced it), he was already on the first glance very fast, drove very clean lines, made no mistake.....defenitely one of the fastest FWD drivers in this region.
Where in Europe it is still allowed to drive a 997 GT3 apart from R-GT? I know from CZ and Belgium but what about the rules f.i. in Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, Poland? PN welcome. Thx.
In Portugal unrestricted GT’s are allowed but very few drivers rally them, because the main championship is half gravel half tarmac. There’s also a separate GT series, with only 2 guys competing. Gt’s are more popular on the tarmac roads of the Portuguese Madeira islands, and some 911’s drivers are still winning local events.
The same happens at the Canarias islands and on others Spanish regional rally series, but in Spain’s main championship 911’s were forced to use a 40mm restrictor, becoming uncompetitive.

Interesting battle ongoing on Waldviertel Rallye in Austria: https://rally-base.com/2016/rallye-w...016/?ssId=3847
After first leg:
1. Černý (Fabia R5)
2. Schuberth (Fabia R5) +1,0 (who is it?)
3. Baumschlager (Fabia R5) +11,0
4. Mayr-Melnhoff (Fiesta R5) +11,3
5. Botka (DS3 R5) +19,3
6. Al Ketbi (Fiesta R5) +27,6
Gryazin crashed from 4th place in SS4. Sadly SS3 was canceled so they did only one proper stage and two SSS today.
Waldviertel is finished. Great battle between Baumschlager, Schuberth-Mrlik and Černý till the end but the old fox Baumschlager won again. Černý went off in SS6 loosing half a minute but nevertheless nearly caught Mrlik in the last stage. Gryazin after his yesterday's accident in SSS restarted but except one stage win he was quite a lot off the pace.
1. Baumschlager (Fabia R5) 1:34:05,0
2. Schuberth-Mrlik (Fabia R5) +23,4
3. Černý (Fabia R5) +26,2
4. Botka (DS3 R5) +2:29,6
5. Rongits (Evo IX) +4:26,3
6. Wagner (Fiesta R5) +5:36,3
7. Al Ketbi (Fiesta R5) +5:47,8
8. Trencsenyi (Fiesta R5) +6:17,7
9. Hideg (Evo IX) +7:10,1
10. Stigler (Evo IX) +8:40,7
21. Gryazin (Fabia R5) - superally
Some retirements: Mayr-Melnhof (Fiesta R5, technical), Böhm (Evo IX, no reason), Mayer (208 T16, no reason)

In Spain took place 'Rally Comunidad de Madrid', the last one of this year national competition. The victory came to Cristian García (national champion) after close battle with Sergio Vallejo (Citroën DS3 R5) and Nil Solans (Peugeot 208 R5). It has to be taken into account that the roads were extremely fast, with an average speed of 115/120km/h, so that fits pretty good with the García's Evo X.
Another driver, who has no luck with Peugeot 208 T16. He did 10 rallyes in 2016 and finished only 2 (Arctic Lappland and Sweden), none of the 8 rallyes after Sweden:

Is there a reason there were so many foreign drivers in Waldviertel Rallye?
There has always been many foreign drivers there mainly from Hungary and Czech republic ;)
I think it's because it's a great gravel event very close from everywhere around the Austrian/Hungarian/Czech/Slovak corner.
Rallye waldiertel was the final of the european rallye trophy this year, i think that was the main reason, the stages are very challenging, specially because of the traditional slippery, muddy, mixed tarmac and gravel roads in late fall.
I was competing there twice as codriver and i will keep it forever in my mind as extraordinary experience.
I think that most of the foreign crews don't care about ERT.

European Rally Trophy. Those zones about which nearly nobody cares, You know what I mean? We've had loads of zone champions in CZ simply because large part of central European zone events are part of MČR. Normally they did one or two extra events abroad and took some money for representation from ASN...
Aha :) It's been existing since medieval age I guess :)
