You cant have a last rally, last stage decider every year. 2024 was pretty good with chances and drama going late into the season and a brand new Champion crowned.

It was closer than last year, but also then Evans had 14 points over Ogier before Monza, so something wrong had to happen to Evans to make Ogier win.Quote:

We've had in Australia 2018, but Neuville had to put quite some cars between him and Ogier, very difficult with the huge cleaning there was in Australia. Basically, the car isn‘t reactive enough from corner to corner (Fourmaux) and, according to Tänak, also works the tire too much, which tallies with most of the time loss coming the longer the stage goes on.
Like Tänak mentioned, it‘s a known issue that occurred during testing and on shakedown, but there‘s no clear fix yet.
Ogier mentioned the new hard tyre as a possible contributing factor as well.
The 2019 world champion confirmed to DirtFish that he and Neuville’s problems with the i20 were “quite similar” and, like Neuville, did not appear especially optimistic that a solution was on the horizon.
“It’s been since the beginning with this car and somehow not able to find a way forward,” said Tänak. “It was the same in the test and it was the same yesterday on shakedown. We’ve been trying a couple of things now but still unable to iron it out yet.”
Neuville:

WRC reporter states a full suspension change at service for Nueville and probably gone softer to make the hard tyre work harder as the ones used this morning were still like new.
