Two questions regarding service park:
1) is it open to public on wednesday?
2) we are travelling with a disabled person (who owns the EU parking card) - any benefit in parking closer to the service park?
Hi
It's opened on wednesday, and IMHO it's the best day to get there.
Thanks, I've just done that.
I have one more question/request for tips. Where would be the best opportunity to get closest to the cars (static/parked up) without too much hassle? Obviously service park is not the ideal place (too many people and you have the barriers between you and the cars). As I've seen from several YouTube videos (Germany, Corsica, Finland), usually the crews stop and prepare few hundred meters before starting the shakedown - and people get to walk around the cars. But I don't know if that's the case for Spain as well and also I think it is quite shame to sacrifice shakedown for this (one less gravel stage, which is the main reason we are there for). So what about the area before/after the start/finish of Salou superspecial (which I'm not too keen to see, so no problem to sacrifice that)? Or perhaps some regroup? Or last idea that we did in Poland few years back - follow the cars from service to the first stage on Sunday morning and at some point (~1km before the stage) they stop to check pressures and do final preparations.

Camilli: What a great opportunity for us to compete at the next @RallyRACC onboard C3 R5! Big Thanks to @CitroenRacing, @TotalRacingFR, @Michelin_Sport & @TeamSainteloc
for this new and fantastic challenge! We will have two days of testing with the car to get to know it. Can’t wait!
Citroën: @Citroen is glad to have @EricCamilli & Benjamin Veillas competing onboard #C3R5 at @RallyRACC: it’s another top crew to showcase the car’s competitivness! For their 5th appearence on this mixed surface rally, they have the ability & goal to win
Spain test crucial for Ogier https://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/octo...1--12-12-.html
Citroen’s hopes of bringing new parts to last week’s Wales Rally GB were spoiled by complications surrounding the homologation process. That new suspension will have to wait until next season.
Team principal Pierre Budar said: “The rules for the homologation are the same for all the teams. It’s just very frustrating and disappointing to know these parts make the car quicker, but we can’t use them.
“The drivers have run with them in the test and they like them. We know the car would be faster and giving more confidence if we had them on, but the rules are the rules.”
Didnt know this. It is indeed crucial for him but i wonder how many miracles they can make with just one test, they were really nowhere in Germany.
Time will tell.
Corsica had a lot of smooth, wide and fast sections this year and Citroen's were especially lost there. Basically the only stage where Ogier was fast was the rough and long stage and there won't be sections like that in Catalunya.
As the situation looks now I actually expect MSport to have clearly the fastest car on tarmac in Spain. They were probably fastest already in Corsica and also in Germany Suninen's times were great.
Toyota pace does seem to be slightly reduced by the wing changes and Spanish tarmac is where this should be very noticable.
Hyundai (for Neuville and Sordo) did seem to be on Toyota level in Germany, but those stages are mostly quite a bit different from Spanish tarmac. Question is if they come with some more drastic changes now that Loeb has done two testing rallies and Neuville is going to do another one this weekend.
DoN_cz - there is a street pavement around a section of the shakedown stage which would give a solid base to watch the shakedown.

Can anyone with access to rg2 tell me what time recce of salou stage is? Normally 16.00 on Wednesday. Thanks in advance
Hi
here you are ;)
Attachment 1875
Thank you
Hi my husband and son are from the UK and have booked a stay in Salou when the rally is Spanish rally is taking place. Does anyone know of any way other than hiring a car they would be able to get to the rally stages? Or is anyone looking for 2 passengers to share a car and fuel? Thank you.
Depends how much you want to see, you can see lots with no car, shakedown is on Thursday morning which is within easy walking distance from the town, start and finish takes place along the front on thurs evening/sunday afternoon aswell as a special stage on Saturday afternoon, service park is just a 10 minute walk out of town at port adventura where the cars visit each day several times, all info available on rally racc website.
They were hoping to go into the mountains on Thursday and Fri. Unfortunately, there doesnt seem to be any bus trips going there. They were hoping to car share and pay towards it and the fuel costs.
Enjoyed your blog summary Anttil -
I'd be interested to know your recommended/preferred stages for Friday on Gravel - ideally moving between stages.
Is it fairly straightforward to go SS1 - SS3 am and SS5 pm would you say?
Any others reading with previous knowledge feel free to chip in - thanks.
Not been to Catalunya since 2016
It's absolutely easy to see ss1 and ss3 and then again ss4 and ss6 in a different spot.
Remember that usually, cars start every 3 minutes on Friday so you can watch around 15-20 cars on ss1 before moving
are the stages open to public on wednesday for our own private recce?
Speculations about rally being cancelled because of riot in Barcelona. Anybody heard anything or estonian media making big fuss again?

A bit of tension yesterday at Barcelona's airport : https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-49974289
As said, some people tried to block the recce 2 years ago, but the rally went fine.
Scott Martin was there https://twitter.com/scottmartinat/st...81259096002560

I am more concerned about the weather during recce. lets see how it develops, but be careful on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is not clear where the cyclone moves, but current scenario is not nice, very heavy rain, hail, thunder an flooding is highly likely.. somewhere in Catalonia...

"The protests and incidents taking place in Catalonia could have a huge effect on the result of the Rally World Cup, as there is now a serious risk that the Catalunya Rally will be canceled due to the situation in Catalonia..." [google translate]
Would be bad...
here it is finally, Toyota announcement of their Spain PRESS RELEASE https://toyotagazooracing.com/wrc/re...3/preview.html
M-Sport press release : https://www.m-sport.co.uk/single-pos...FACE-CHALLENGE
Tuesday looks like a complete washout with massive winds and potential flooding.
Could be dangerous for drivers who are doing recce.
Weather forecast is showing fine for Friday and the weekend.
its been fine for the weekend so far, the critical days have been tuesday and wednesday but it shows much better for those days now than couple a days ago when it seemed there will be hell

Doesnt look better at all.
What region are you watching? I saw different numbers in the stages region separately.
Tarragona. It is probably better in the stages, because they are farther inland.
Remember, weather forecasts for each stage location here ;)

Looks like super heavy rain indeed on Wednesday morning. Luckily the least rain on gravel stages.
