Tommi Mäkinen VIP is at SS Himos this year, so if you want see some Toyoda action go to Himos ;)
hello this is my first time in Rally Finland and I wonder when I'll get to know the accesses to the public.It can only be achieved in the magazine the same week rally?
thanks
Only 2 live stages on WRC+, one of which is Harju :( was hoping for an action packed Saturday on TV. Are any local channels showing live coverage of the rally?
In prior years that've been the case, the official magazine Tuulasi shows official parking places and accesses. I think that issue will be out next Friday. I don't know are organisers changing their online info strategy, but like said, past years official spectator guide has been only on print. (there are pdf/app version available too)
Finally Got my rallypass yesterday! Which stages you recommend to watch? Ouninpohja for sure but what others? Heard from other estonians that the locals are letting you on their land for a night for 5 euros or so, is this true? Cant wait :)
Just check the onboards of the stages on the Youtube channel of the rally or via http://www.rally-maps.com with live Google Maps on the right. Takes some effort and time, but there are so many good spots ;)
I don't know why but watching onboards is like a sleeping pill for me.
Everytime after 5 minutes I'm so tired and my eyes keep on closing... :o
You can speed them up, I watch the ones from the organisation with 2x speed haha.

Best place of Neste oil rally finland. Legendary ruuhimäki Jumps! On thursday morning you can see cars 4 times here in shakedown :)

Great video Latvala ruuhimäki 2014. Biggest jumps starts 2.40.. !!!!
I am attending Rally Finland for the first time this year!
Is there a good online info page for observers? i.e. where are observation points and how to get to them by car, etc...? I can't seem to find such anywhere.
We will be located near Länkipohja, so we will attend on Friday. Any suggestions for these sections would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
For the jumps themselves my favourite spot to spectate is exactly just where the cars start flying on the first jump. There you can usually be quite close to the road (in all safety), it gives the most impressive feeling and the best view of the landing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ35D76Qtag
Also after the jumps, the long left before junction right is a nice corner as well and could give a better view if the crowds are huge.

Same here. If you walk all the way in to the first jump the crowd seems to thin out - even though it's the biggest jump. There's much more room and some rocks you can stand on on driver's left. I've stood there twice and would go back in a heartbeat. Going there the first time absolutely blew me away.
Yes, the "ramp" of the first jump is the very first place where I stood on a Finnish stage :p
And if you are really brave (or stupid) like me you can manage to get a shot like this at 15 sek, hiding in the ditch between cars and jump up when the marshalls are busy watching the cars ;)

Ruuhimäki was used in a local event in the beginning of June, ran the opposite way. In this case the last of the jumps gave some nice air for historic cars also. The white Corolla GT driver at about 0'50" hurt his back and ambulance was called.
If you're coming to Rally Finland for the first time, being at the jumps is the only choice. It's perhaps the best calling card to rallying in the world, at least for Rally Finland it is. I'd suggest to be there early enough (1,5-2 h before first car) to be able to select your desired spot. The vegetation in the area however allows a limited view for a lot of people (in June it looked like the organisers have cleared out smaller vegetation for better view), and you can easily walk around easily between the jumps. The part after the last jump is amazing as well; you see the jump and the left hander up into tight junction right. In my opinion that is a rally ballet as the car move and swing so smoothly around there. There are other places on Ruuhimäki too, but the jumps are definitely the greatest.
During previous years, all official spectator info has been published only in the printed guide. It should be out this week. I'll see if it'll be available online on an app or similar.
Länkipohja is ideal for Friday stages indeed, but it doesn't rule out Saturday stages by any means. Please send me PM, I can answer if you have questions about spectator points.
EDIT: Tuulilasi magazine, which is the official guide, can be purchased in digital edition from here: https://luettavaa.a-lehdet.fi/lue/tuulilasi
4,90€ for a single copy (irtonumero). Issue with the spectator guide is out on Friday, but it's a double issue and I can't guarantee the spectator guide part is available digitally too. I will ask.
First jump is the best one indeed! :D

Is it true? :D
#RallyFinland will be "opened" by Juha Kankkunen as he drives 000 Valtra tractor through SS Harju 1. #WRC
Sp let´s have a short rendez-vous on first jump this year, fellow rallyfans. I´ll be there when it all starts. Wearing a orange RB Foundation T-shirt.

Tuulilasi magazine's spectator guide is available digitally now: https://luettavaa.a-lehdet.fi/lue/tuulilasi
Purchase process is Finnish-only, but I understand credit card is an option once you've got the sign-in process through.
You can spot which issue is the guide.
Irtonumero = Single copy
Rekisteröidy = register, make an account
Sähköposti = email (asked twice)
Salasana = password (asked twice)
Next page's line: first name, family name, postal addres, postal area number, city - tallenna (save)
Next page:
Verkkomaksu = online payment (of credit cards, it shows only Visa)
Check the box Hyväksyn tilausehdot = approve conditions
Osta irtonumero = buy a single copy
What happens after that, I don't know. Maybe a question to Tuulilasi customer service could help also asiakaspalvelu@a-lehdet.fi.
Why don't they have all that in the other Official Language?
I have wondered that and thought maybe you guys decided you didn't want to have 2 languages so I just checked Viki-pedia and look:

HA! I knew it, it still is official!
So why do all Finnish web site discriminate against your brothers?
Its in the Consitution Section 17 för fan!
Section 17
-
Right to one's language and culture
The national languages of Finland are Finnish and Swedish.
The right of everyone to use his or her own language, either Finnish or Swedish, before courts of law and other
authorities, and to receive official documents in that language, shall be guaranteed by an Act. The
public authorities
shall provide for the cultural and societal needs of the Finnish speaking and Swedish speaking populations of the
country on an equal basis.
So why all rally reports and results and spectator info only in Finnish?
I think you are all trying to save all the best spectator points for you guys..
It's Un-Constitutional!
So did someone already order the guide from this website?
No Rally Finland for Jari Ketomaa.
He hurt himself in Fafe crash in Portugal, but competed in Poland. Now he has to take a break to let himself heal fully.
Newspaper Keskisuomalainen is suggesting Jarkko Nikara might replace him in Finland. They can change one member of the crew from the entry, so it's up to FIA now. Kaj Lindström will nevertheless be the co-driver.
Cant wait to see the crazy man in Finland !! Go Lukyanuk !! :crazy:
