Vilamoura is a good place to be in Portugal Rally. There are many options for accomodation, and in a big range of prices. Is near the Service Park too.Quote:

I've been on holiday to Portugal last summer, not far from Villamoura (Olhos d'Agua). From what I know the stages are quite far north, and Villamoura is right down south to the coast.Quote:

What you are saying is true, but the down south is the only place with accomodation and services. The SS zone in the north, is almost dessert and there are small groups of houses only, without any kind of accomodation or places where you can buy something. Services are all in the south coast line only. Because of all that, Vilamoura and Olhos de agua are very good choicesQuote:

Many magazines will have the program but they are paid, sometimes in the service park they give free programs, but best option is to print it from the official website of the rally.Quote:

To look for the public zone from last year you can look here youtube.com/user/acprallydeportugal.
Probaly in the next week you will have the public zones from this year on the rally web site. The shakedown is already on the site. Regarding the place to stay, you have lot of options. The best option is to stay in Albufeira, Loulé, Vilamoura, look this on booking per exemple. The oficial hotels of the rally is Dom Pedro chain and they have 3 hotels in Vilamoura.
It look a little far, but in 40 minutes you reach any stage, and you can see almost 8 stages all rally.
The official program will be launched with the Top Gear magazine (Portuguese version).
Thanks for the info will keep an eye on the website, staying at the hotel de golfe hopefully it's not too bad
I've been last year in Almancil. This year we go also to the same hotel (cheap, nice, good breakfast). It is not so far to Stadium (service Park) and to shakedown.Quote:

I'm have booked a room from hotel Stella Maris (Albufeira) with my girlfriend. Hopefully some rally tourist there also. Also I have Avis car ( Polo or same kind :D ) to all 8 days. If someone needs ride I think we have room in our car :)
Also planning to buy Vodafone Prepaid Internet for my tablet PC to see results. Will see how difficult that is there to get
(vita plus 3G fast prepaid internet in Portugal | The Laptop Junction)
If someone is looking for a hirecar, I would recommend Algarve Car Hire | Faro Airport Lagos Rent a Car Rental, Hire Algarve | LUZCAR.
Reliable, and much cheaper than major rental companies such as Avis, Hertz or Europcar.
Just don't search for a counter in the Faro airport terminal.
Their 'office' is either a desk in the airport terminal cafe or a van at the carpark.
Also very easy to use, their depot is the airport carpark, as with the major brands you first need a shuttle to bring you to their deport often a couple of kms from the airport.
Used it for the last two years, will do it again this year ;)
Brun Magalhaes said he will drive a 207. :)
Only race season for Bruno Magalhenes ... There are hopes to see it in other rounds of the World Rally Championship?Quote:

The public zone are already online in the website of the rally :D
Just wondering are the stages open to public trafic before race? (after recce?)
They usually close a few hours before the beginning of the day in which the stage will run.Quote:

I believe the stages close around midnight.
So, no problem to do your own recce during the days prior to the event.
Entries are closed now, hope a provisional list of entries gets online soon.
Finnish 2WD driver Andreas Amberg announced today he will start his JWRC campaign in Portugal.

Good news, it seems that we'll have a good composed entry list from the first cars to the last ones, in this Portugal rally!Quote:

70 cars, around 14 Wrc's, not bad for this days. Rumours are that Hanninen is also in the entry list.
no Fiesta WRC for Philip ?
Source? How do you know that are 70 cars and around 14 WRC´s?Quote:
