I'm sorry, but you obviously missed the joke with the thread title. Others were claiming that Lewis had been assaulted by Massa in the post race interview.

Somethings the most simply explanation is the one that's right, I'd love to have come up with the idea of having a dig at someone whilst insulating myself from criticism but I'm simply not that smart :laugh:

it was not the liegate or cheat gate that put me off lewis
it was that he refused to go to ron dennis retirement dinner after all that ron had done for him over the years

My view on the downward trend of the forum bickering is quite simple. There are a handful of posters on here who like to point fingers but can't stand to ever have a finger pointed at them. They are critical of anyone posting anything they don't view as their own opinion, and most often the ones trolling for an argument and then quite often crying victim.

Mark has given us quite a bit of leeway on the forums, and some continue to take advantage of it. I'm really surprised that he hasn't had to resort to a forum "clamp down" as in past years in the F1 forum.

Having said that, I can honestly say that a good 90-95% of the forum members manage to discuss and debate many aspects of F1 without degrading the opinion of the others. I'm sure most that fall into that 5 or 10% that can't act in an adult manner on a regular basis know who they are, and enjoy getting under each others skin. I'll have to assume that those involved didn't get enough attention as children. ;)

Why I should feel necessary to deconstruct my post and explain it when no one else, not even henners who I supposedly unsulted (sic) picked up on it, I do not know so I won't.

It has come to my attention that I'm actually some sort of mastermind. I really am. According to one person, I post a thread with a jokey title and explicitly state that it's not a Lewis whining thread so as to give myself cover to achieve my ultimate goal which was to whine about Lewis in a thread which is not one of the half a dozen other Lewis whining threads. I can also insult someone by saying, I don't feel you're an idiot and I'm not going to say that you are. Yes, I really went to bed a happy last night knowing that I'd delivered the killer blow to Henners' ego and it was right there in public for all to see but he didn't catch on.

This has brightened up my Monday morning somewhat.

I know this is going to be seen as a troll, but let me explain. This forum is becoming tiresome to post on. However I think the second paragraph of your original post, as well as your other posts in this thread, demonstrate that you are as guilty as anyone else. I suggest that if you really are sick and tired of all this schoolyard behaviour, you should simply decline to take part in it.

Thanks for agreeing with my sentiment. Strange that it seems there are only two of us who are unhappy with the direction that the discussions on the forum are taking.

I certainly agree that I am part of the problem. But do you honestly think that if I stopped posting on the F1 forum right now that it would all be sunshine and lollipops? :p

If two people are arguing, replying to all of each others' posts in a tit-for-tat fashion, then posting will proceed at a static rate. If 3 people are involved, then the posting rate will increase exponentially by powers of 2: the first post will get 2 replies, then those will beget 4 replies, and so on. If 4 people are involved, then the posting rate increases exponentially by powers of 3. For 5 people, it becomes powers of 4, and so on. So one less person involving themselves in the argument can make a significant difference.

There should be a no holds barred thread. Where everyone can say what they like about another forum user and they can't be banned for it.

If we both got into a fight with each other in a pub and lets say I stabbed you, would you expect the Police to say "Well if you behave yourself in the future and he does it again THEN we'll do something about it". Henners, is it reasonable to say that most of the arguments at the moment revolve around Hamilton topics?

I'm going to assume you're going to say yes to that. If you do feel that most issues revolve around Hamilton topics then is it not reasonable to bring it up as it's relevant? Should I talk about fanatical Alonso fans? No, because there don't seem to be any issues in Alonso topics. Perhaps that explains why I mentioned the issues (as I perceive them) with some of the topics regarding Hamilton.
