I would fly to Sweden, car rental prices are much higher in Norway compared to Sweden.Quote:

Stockholm. Since it seems like you're flying Ryanair, and then the "Oslo" Ryainair fly to is Torp, and that's a long drive! (5 hours or so)Quote:

Hi lads,
Myself and a few mates have booked flights and accomodation for this we're staying in Karlstad from Thurs to Sun, can't wait :D has anyone any recommendations for what stages would be worth heading up to on the Fri / Sat?
Also re clothes to bring, I've never been to anywhere colder than where I live so any tips would be great!
CheeRS!
I've never been to Sweden, but I do know cold weather. :D Warm boots are important, as someone else mentioned. Other than that, dress in layers -- it's better to wear multiple lighter shirts and sweaters than just one or two really warm ones. If you've got several shirts, you can take one off or put an extra one on if you're too hot or too cold at some point in the day, but if you just go with a t-shirt, sweater, and coat, then if they're too warm (or not warm enough) for the actual conditions, you're in for an uncomfortable time.Quote:

Your outer layer should be something water resistant, like most winter coats are, or made of wool (which won't block the wind, but will keep you warm even if it gets wet).
Oh, and these probably go without saying, but bring gloves, a warm hat that can cover your ears, and if your coat can't zip up all the way to your chin and keep the wind out, a scarf. And having some chemical heating pads like the ones they sell to skiers might be a good idea if you're going to be out on the stages a long time, as they're fantastic for warming up fingers and toes.
My periferic blood flow is poor and I had had problems in winter rallies because my fingers would just freeze really really badly. Few winters back I got an idea while being in the kitchen. :)
First, I put on a pair of normal wool gloves. Then I roll some aluminium foil (the one from the kitchen) on top of those gloves. Apply some smoothing so that it fits nicely to hands. Then on top of that package I put on some warm winter mittens. I can guarantee warm hands and fingers in temperatures under minus twenty centigrade. The downside is that hands/fingers become somewhat difficult to use. :D

I bought some heat bags from one of the stands in the Vikingship on Rally Norway, and they kept my feet and hands comfortably warm all day.. It was something like this...

We are coming to Karlstad with 4 friends :) Can`t wait to be there in February. Is there any good place to be with a camper? Hope there is going to be lots of snow!! Anyone coming from Jyväskylä too?
Welcome to the forum! I will be in the Jyväskylä region (Petäjävesi) for the first week in February. I leave there for Swedish Rally on Sunday 07 Feb on Naantali - Kapelskär (Sp?) ferry. Will our paths cross?Quote:

Anyone have any idea about rallyguide 1? Normally should be out five months prior the event I believe but no sign of it on event's webpage?
I'll come in Sweden for follow WRC Rally for the first time in 2010.
I've read that next year Rally move to north, around Torsby with new and storic special stages.
I have some videos of spectacular stages on icy lakes (around Torsby) of 1996 and before (group B cars). Anyone knows if are there famous stages that cross icy lakes in modern Uddeholm Swedish Rally (or next year in the northern area)?
The service has been moved back to Hagfors and i think the most southern stages have been further north in hope for more snow.Quote:

SAS do a Manchester or London flight to Copenhagen, then change to a propellor engined aircraft from CPH directly to Karlstad - v.v. expensive route!
