It "grew up" in the past, as posted, and was originally the alternative to GpA and N in the past when they were the only International categories. They aren't now and there has since been a plethora of other categories or sub-categories. Whether past or present, the use of "B" in a non-International context was a stupid choice that will confuse the hell out of future historians.
Having followed a former car of mine (in vastly different spec) winning BTRDA B12 classes on events in recent years with its current owner, I am aware the silly description is still in use...

You'll be whupped by the 2 litre boys, flog it and go and do something like 205 Challenge or F1000 instead, will be cheaper and you'll learn more.
