Well, when there was "Camel" on the car, surely that had something to do with it, but I think regardless, Renault always loves to throw some yellow on the car, no matter how weird it looks, right? (I'm thinking the MildSeven teal/yellow and ING orange/yellow combos, which seemed a bit... busy!) :D

Here is the 1984 (the last pre-Canon) Williams. Yep looks like the yellow was ICI's "fault", and when Camel came along it was nice and convenient to keep it.
