Well, more is coming out. Chip fired Elledge for an argument with Steve Hmiel. Montoya is apparently beyond pissed at Ganassi.Quote:

Would be pretty stupid if JPM wasn't listening to the likes of Donnie Wingo and Jimmy Elledge. No surprises he's not happy at Chip and being coupled with a young crew chief.
from nascar.com :
Team owner Chip Ganassi sympathizes with Montoya's frustration, but said Elledge's dismissal was warranted ...
after the crew chief engaged in a heated argument with competition director Steve Hmiel during the All-Star race.
"We had an employee step over the line,
and I'm sorry it happened because I like Jimmy personally, but it had to be done," Ganassi said.
"I know Juan is upset and he comes out on the short end of this deal.
"I apologize for that, but unfortunately it was unavoidable collateral damage."

Ganassi cars @ the Coca-Cola 600 :
22. Reed Sorenson #41 (1 lap down)
30. Juan Montoya #42 (4 laps down)
31. Sterling Marlin #40 (4 laps down)
If i was JPM id look around for a more stable ride. all these changes have really hurt is effort to get into the chase.

Has Montoya impressed enough to be able to step up to a better team (say RCR, Hendrick, Rousch, or JGR) if he wanted to? I think he has. He's certainly head and shoulders above Casey Mears who seems to hang on at Hendrick for little results.
