On May 24-25 near the city of Saint-Petersburg in the recreational zone of Sestroretsk there was held the ninth round of the Russian Rally Cup. This rally is one of the oldest in the country. For the first time it was held back in 1984 under the name of “Brass horseman”. This year the participants were to cover 220 km 80 of which fell at 14 special stages.

The track of the “Viraj” (“Turn”) rally is located in Rostov region 120 km to the north from Rostov city near the miner's town of Gukovo. 80 % of it had been built, the rest are roads of general use.
Every year we have two big rallies in Gukovo: one round of Russian rally cup and one round of national championship. The distance is very hard, bright, and very comfortable for spectators: from some places you can see three stages at once! And the whole region, where stages are situated, covers 10 to 10 kilometers. The 4th round of Russian Rally Championship finished. Evgeny Novikov won the difficult rally driving his new Peugeot 207 Super 2000, the second car of the class in Russia. Meanwhile we are preparing news and interviews - some nice photos from legendary Karelian rally "White nights 2008"
