The only good thing about the BRC this year will be the sight of the MG S2000 cars and possibly more as more cars have been sold and maybe the new owners will contest selected events
As for the rest of it its another dissapointing year for what is supposed to be the pinnacle of our Rally championships hehe

Yeah I think more people have to go the S2000 route now for "regional" championships. We've been running them in South Africa for 4 years now and having watched the opening round a few weeks ago it was awesome action. We only have 2 manufacturers doing S2000 but we still have 9 cars in the main class. And rallies are usually decided by less than 20sec. So in Europe where you can get more manufacturers involved there should be huge fields.

SA championship needs these too Bruce

yeah we definately need more than just VW and Toyota fighting it out and Ford are back this year, unfortunately with just N3 cars for now but Fiesta S2000 cars from next season onwards, but we do need more.
The problem is two-fold - 1) our manufacturers championship counts all finishing competitors for manufacturers so its always more of a "who has the most cars in the event" type of thing, not rewarding the top guys all the time, thus a 2-car operation has no chance in a championship where overall points are awarded down to 20th place and the top 6 in each class get points, regardless of overall position, and b) our privateers are spending millions are Subarus and Mitsubishis rather than proven S2000 cars.

Should be a very exiting year!

Couple of things a few people seem to have an optical bypass on, or a case of making the facts to suit themselves.
BRC has more registered crews than it has had for a great number of years.
The BRC have always only been part of the whole event. There are currently 49 crews entered, mid to late 90's there were approx. 30. Early 2000's the International rally of Wales ran with 24 BRC crews.
10 years ago the entry looked brilliant, due to the number of different manufacturers entering, but there were less registered crews.
So perhaps in your eyes they have wrecked it, but if you did ever look at the facts you'll find it is being ressurected slowly over the years.
