Only Vallejo and Perez (Fiesta) competing with R5's at spanish next round. It seems local drivers are waiting to see how much N+ cars can improve on the continental roads. In Mitsu team, Garcia has now Monarri as team mate. Portuguese R5's drivers Vieira (DS) and Barros (Fiesta) will also compete, testing for portuguese next rally. http://www.rallyesierramorena.com/listainscritos.html

Huge battle in Hungarian/Slovak Rally Eger: http://www.srs.sk/vysledky_new/index...&ho=&idr=&srp=
After 9 stages Grzyb (Pol) leading ahead of Valoušek (Cze) and Herzig (Hun) but they change their positions very often.
5 WRC, 13 R5, 3 S2000, 8 R4 or the great F2 306 Maxi of Bútor started in the rally!
Just arrived back, unfortunately had time only for this day. But what a day it was!
The standard and the pace was very high, with almost everybody suffering from punctures (Herczig or Melichárek for example), and great atmosphere. The "old" 306 Maxi generated more interest than the R5s serviced next to it, and also on the stages everybody was waiting for it, like it was a messiah or something :D The "evo" 208 T16 with Janika retired after stage 5 with an engine problem, it started right before me, sounded like it went to three then to two cylinders, but nothing has been said about it so far. All in all a great day, and I'm sure tomorrow will be just as good as well. Good luck to everybody still in competition!
Funny, in the Netherlands few weeks ago also the 306 Maxi of Madsen was the car that everybody thought was the most interesting one. They still sound and look great.
Just some more thoughts: the 208 was good till it gave up, it was about as fast as the Fiestas and Fabias. Also, it looks like there's no rally in Eger without having to put out a forest fire started by fans (at least everytime I was there, that was the case). There were some nasty accidents as well, most notably a Fabia S2000 went off into the trees and caught fire. But fortunately nobody was hurt.
Yes, that was Czech driver Ondřej Bisaha who switched recently from DS3 R3T.

Baumschlager took 27,9 sec off Neubauer at Lavanttal Rallye (2nd run of Austrian championship) on just 2 stages, Neubauer only third now behind Grössing after 3 stages (Neubauer won the first stage). Even if we consider that roads are wet, which should be an advantage for Baumschlager, there must be something wrong with Neubauer. Normally he isn´t slower than Grössing.
EDIT: Neubauer just 4th after 4 stages with 1:50 behind Baumschlager, even a Subaru Impreza driver in front of him.
It is so great that Baumschlager is leading against the WRCs. Maybe next year he must use a R2 car an his contrahents try to argue that his car is faster than a WRC. Go Mundl. You are the best!!!
This rally shows also again, that Kreim won't be a new Röhrl.
Neubauer had techincal issues ( Auf der Vier mit kaputter Halbachse leider sehr viel Zeit verloren - google translate - On the four with a broken half shaft unfortunately lost a lot of time).
He did win the first stage.
But anyway Baumschlager is the man :)
Neubauer had a broken driveshaft and a puncture, Grössing puncture too.
Yesterday Baumschlager showed his big experience, respect. Kreim on the same car already 54,9 sec behind.
Kreim is doing well today, a lot better than yesterday.
How are you commenting today's happening at Rally Sierra Morena? Burgo with hampered P911 is in a stricking distance to Perez...what is your proposal for FIA? To disconect one cylinder bank for 911's?
And what a great performance by Garcia!! Already one minute lead with evoX N+.... A car worth 1/3 compare to high-tech R5 cars....
What does Sierra Morena have to do with FIA?
Fixed for You.
Besides that there is nothing hi-tech on R5. In many ways the gr.N car is more hi-tech than R5 (for example it has active center differential). R5 are tailor-made race cars built within a framework of rules which weren't created to compete against whatever invention any ASN in the world comes with. Your never-ending meaningless comparisons make no sense as it's formost the R5 which is restricted.
Final results of Rally Lavanttal, Austria
1. Baumschlager (Fabia R5) 2:01:13,9
2. Kreim (Fabia R5) +1:20,8
3. Neubauer (Fiesta WRC) +1:44,8
4. Grössing (Fiesta WRC) +3:23,3
5. Hideg (Evo IX R4) +6:02,5
6. Kössler (Impreza STI R4) +6:46,7
7. Gassner sen. (Evo X R4) +7:45,6
8. Szeja (Impreza STI N4) +8:29,3
9. Wollinger (Clio R3) +8:43,7
10. Kalteis (Evo VII A8) +9:48,0
Very nice of Baumschlager and Kreim! What will they vote for next? Give Baumschlager penalty of 2 minutes before every rally :-D
Very very impressive drive by Baumschlager and also Kreim on Saturday.
Maybe next year the opponents should try to get some 2017spec WRCs :)

Burgos restricted 911 close with faster r5 of Perez. Go figure how ''hard they were trying'' last year the unrestricted 911 with 450 bhp.Really heroes their drivers. lololol
And plenty of guys from here wanted to continue this farce.
Vallejo hard times with not bhp advantage.
Once we’re on ‘fixing’ mode:
“Besides that there is nothing hi-tech on OVERPRICED R5. In many ways the gr.N car is more hi-tech than R5 (for example it has active center differential). R5 are tailor-made race cars built within a framework of rules which weren't created to compete against whatever invention any ASN in the world comes with”.
Btw, you managed to expose R5 major paradox: they’re technically simple cars, yet they cost around 250.000€!
Probably because R5 is about “tailor-made rally cars (…) which weren’t created to compete against” other cars, they’ve become a sort of manu’s tuners monopoly and FIA sloppily allow them to hugely surpass R5’s initial target prices.
It’s true they sell well, but they’re still very expensive cars to buy and run. Maybe FIA doesn’t care, but ASN’s must provide competitive opportunities for teams and drivers with lower budgets. Getting a fair BOP between different rally classes it’s not a “whatever invention”, it’s a wise measure taken on the sport interest.
Another amazing exhibition of Garcia’s N+ Evo on the spanish championship. He was almost 1m in front of Perez Fiesta R5 at the end of the morning and spent the rest of the day controlling the advantage.
His domination on the Spanish championship is becoming a joke, after RFEA decision to undermine 911’s in order to get R5’s at the top.
Even undermined, 911’s still are competitive (2 of them on the top 5), cheap to run, fun to drive and the public favorites.

What You don't see is the price of development. Years of designing, testing, hiring the best people etc. cost a lot of money. You can't skip this part and count the price of the product by simple materials. Once there is more than one manufacturer involved the competition requires spending money, the more competition, the more money. If there was no competition nobody would need two years of testing to make things working better than others. It's not about simplicity of the parts but about the competition between manufacturers. That maybe another paradox as we all want more competition but more competition means that everybody must spend a lot more to be successful.
Anyway R5 are the most successfully sold top regional level cars ever therefore I don't think they are that much overpriced. Currently the sales of R5 cars are higher than of anything else in the rally world and M-Sport or Škoda sales are limited solely by production capacity.
For me the sales say enough that R5 in current state are good enough product for the market. Otherwise they wouldn't be sold out for something like a year ahead.

There are already many ideas how Neubauer can win the Austrian championship:
- give Baumschlager penalty of 2 minutes before every rally
- introduce a rule that Baumschlager has to drive R2 car in every rally
- give Neubauer a 2017-spec WRC
and then maybe Neubauer finally wins by 0,1 sec over Mundl :D
