No problem to state, I happily follow all the news.. and "news", but this does not make them less of a factory :)
The main point was to share quotes from Tänak.

Why not both Oliver and Ott are tied up at Toyota for next season? Is it impossible? No, don´t think so.
Why not both Oliver and Ott are tied up at Toyota for next season? In Rally1, that is. Is it impossible? No, don´t think so.

Just to prove you wrong. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...acing.rallying (17th oct 2001). Richard Burns agreed to go from Subaru to Peugeot and there was still three rallies to go that year.
Hello everybody.
Sorry for the offtopic. I have a question.
What is happening when a rally car's homologation expired ? Does the manufacturer continues to provide spare parts to privateers, or not ? and for how long ?
Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for the offtopic, again.
Different times and different situation.
In that case Peugeot had wanted Burns for years, whereas Tanak left Toyota who have won 5 Manufacturer titles without him.
Plus Toyota still has 3 drivers going for the 2025 WDC and wont distract any of them by openly discussing contracts with a new driver.
.
I call this BS. You were precisely talking about timing (quote: "No-one confirms anything at this stage"). And 2001 is not 1980 and the situation in 2001 was exactly the same, three rallies to go and still in the title hunt. Burns wanted to win so bad he was looking for other options (as Tänak might be now). I remembered this by heart because the contract situation was crazy. When announced, he was third in the standings but eventually won the whole thing which got him a bit into trouble because he had a clause in the contract that if he wins, Subaru can keep him. It was eventually settled in the court.
But if 2001 is too old, then Latvala joining Volkswagen in 2013, was announced 17th of October. https://www.autosport.com/wrc/news/v...58393/4458393/
Or Kris Meeke joining Toyota for 2019, announced also 17th of October. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/m...-wrc-deal-2019
It depends on many things like whose car, which car and what group but mostly market conditions and if they're original, non-common (or made) parts not available elsewhere. Many parts aren't made by the *car manufacturer* and are available off the shelf elsewhere. The cars usually get added to an FIA "list of cars permitted to enter rallies" for an extra period, but outside of FIA championship scoring, and they may still be used in national rallies too. So they don't instantly become dead or precious.
Email the manufacturer's if you're looking to buy, or ask the seller who should tell you where to look.
From Dirtfish:
"Hyundai is expected to retain its current three drivers – Thierry Neuville, Ott Tänak and Adrien Fourmaux – with the two world champions understood to be under contract already and the Frenchman reckoned to be on the verge of signing an extension of his current single-season agreement."

Ben Sulayem expected to run unopposed in FIA presidential race
Serious question, has he done anything for WRC in his last term apart from warming global temperature with his warm breath?
Saved generations from bad words! :D
Step down, because he is clown, not just in WRC, but in all motorsport field. He constantly prove my words.

Are you serious? He has given so many promises over the years to make this sport better. Everybody had some hopes as he has rally background etc and maybe knows stuff. But yeah... it’s a running joke that the guy raises the planet’s average temperature just by breathing. Come on, man… he hasn’t done anything for WRC. Like ZEROOOO. We’re in a really dark place with the WRC right now. Apart from Toyota, no manufacturer is even working and plans to on a WRC27 car. And this narcissist, who is a legend only in his own mind and who nobody likes, just flies around the world handing out F1 trophies and hogging every camera shot he can get. Arghhhh..........

Yes I was serious and was in hope of a serious conversation around possibilities, expectations, limits and magic wands. Maybe you saw that as me defending him. Never mind.
Then sorry! It is actually a really interesting topic to discuss about, what would someone choose to do to improve WRC.
From Ben, I was expecting to improve the sport, attract new manufacturers or at least tame the BS Hyundai has given as couple of years where they promise to leave if they don't get what they want. Talk about the sport more, at least fake it to be better than it is etc. But as it was mentioned before, the only thing he cares about is if someone curses on TV or if someone talks bad about FIA.
Munster and McErlean are only in WRC1 / Rally1 Cars due to financial backing. Neither has the proven ability or experience to deserve to be at this level.
But if they weren't paying to be there, M-Sport would be out and there'd be even fewer Rally1 cars for fans to watch.
(Plus on their low points scored, it's easier to make mistakes trying to drive a Rally1 without the required skill and experience).

Some updates to the 2026 season including reduced midday service from 40 minutes to 30 minutes, mandatory rest hours and standardised candidate events so we’ll no longer have an event joining the WRC calendar like Saudi this weekend.

Probably still hoping he will get noticed by Hyundai. As soon as they "will" (big IF) switch to Rally2 car, the seat will be given to Neuville, Fourmaux and probably someone who never actually drive that car or someone who will be a total non-sense choice.
But he constantly winning with that car, while all other struggle each time.
It's not unusual for him to make odd appearances. Maybe there's no great conspiracy.
